Since some of you complained of my puzzles being a tad hard here's a level 0 one for everyone level 2 or higher.
The game is this one.

..- 01010111 RQ== 70 4A

Hints:

  • The code is encoded using different methods.
  • The order of the characters is the one above. No shuffling is needed.
  • You should be able to find the solution with at most two tries.

Solution:

  • ..- is the Morse code for U but, since Morse doesn't differentiate between lower/uppercase characters, one should try both versions.
  • 01010111 is the Binary for W.
  • RQ== is the Base64 for E.
  • 70 is the ASCII character code for F.
  • 4A is the Hex code for J.

That's it. Have fun!

I truly don't think this one needs any hints :P

Well, I'm having the same problem, unless the [0] is really [2] :P
The first answer you get doesn't lead anywhere, bruteforcing now.

I know what you're doing and it's not that. Try another method for that section ;).

I will explain in the giveaway itself what's going on.

I did exactly what seemed like the obvious thing to do and got nowhere.

I guess I'm just dumb. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If a method doesn't work, try another one if you catch my hint. There are exactly two spots where you can try different approaches.

I guess I'm just dumb. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

That is not true. Even the easiest puzzle must involve a bit of thinking, otherwise it's not a puzzle anymore. So don't give up. In the worst case scenario you only have to make four attempts to solve it.

I saw one spot for different approaches earlier, and I'm still seeing only one... thinks

In case anyone is on the fence about the game, here is a review by a fellow SGer.

Well, it's a giveaway so I don't know why someone could be on the fence to give it a try :)

I know personally, I don't enter any giveaways unless I'm pretty sure I'm going to like the game.

You cannot know for sure if you like something or not unless you play it yourself. In this instance you don't have to pay for it in order to try it. You might like it even if others don't and vice versa.

That's true, but helpful reviews tend to give me a pretty good idea. :)
I guess I'd rather just err on the side of caution. I'd rather not enter a giveaway for a game I might possibly like, than win a giveaway for a game I'm unsure about, discover that I don't like it, and feel bad for taking that game away from someone who legitimately wanted to play it.

Maybe you should try another approach, just like UltraMaster is indicating above. ;)

I have all 5 characters but shuffling them gives lots of possibilities

I gladly would give you more hints, but please undestand that's none of my business. I have to respect the puzzle creator.
Best thing would be to rest the puzzle until UltraMaster comes online again and I'm sure he'll help you out a bit. :)

You don't need to shuffle anything. The code is already in the right order. Take a step back and have a look over them again. You most likely used a wrong approach to solve it. Thus, I think you don't have the correct characters yet.

First thank you again for the puzzles.

Not sure if it's very easy but easy enough - you know what is wanted and just need to find the correct - not always the obvious - way.

not always the obvious - way

There's a trick to it. If you notice something, things become obvious. If you don't, it's no big deal. It's still quite easy to solve.

I call into question your descriptions of "very easy" and "level 0." I look at it, and it all looks like Greek to me. This is not the level 0 I'm looking for. :)

Nice reference :). You can get an idea on my difficulty levels here.
For this one, there's barely any work that you need to do. To give you a head start, there are even tools that do all the conversion for you.

There's even a thread around here with puzzle related advice. That could be helpful to you. Good luck ;)
