No, this has not happened to me, but with the amount of Overture GAs going on, it's not outside the realm of possibilities that someone wins two GAs for it. As these are developer GAs with a lot of keys, they all get delivered instantly, don't they? And there is no convenient way to ask the developers for a re-roll. So what would be the proper course of action if you were to win two?

Open a support ticket and ask for a reroll.

Winners can't ask for a reroll, it has to be the GA creator

Yes you are right, how stupid of me :)

I was under the impression that that was something that the gift-giver had to do, but if it's possible for the gift receiver to do it, then I guess it's not a problem.

I didn't win any Overture, but I update my account on sg after every new game in my library. If you won 2, you are lucky and have to keep calm.

The proper course of action should still be asking the devs to ask for a reroll

Agreed. Having 2 wins of the same game marked as "received" is a liability for you, and marking one as "not received" would be unfair.

Now the usual problem with rerolls after showing the key is that the giver doesn't know for certain if the key has been used, but in the case of a dev they have the contingency of issuing a new key so it's not as big of a risk for them.

Yes, it would be nice to have a system where the winner has to click to reveal the key, and the GA creator would know if the key has been shown to the winner or not.

That's the best idea I encountered so far, why don't you open a post in suggestions and ask them to try that?

+50 - That's an excellent idea! Definitely post that to suggestions.

Well I think that's how it used to be before.. it was like that when I had won Faerie Solitaire if I remember correctly.

Just hope that they're able to respond and actually do a re-roll in the eventually that you win two.

I know that it's unlikely, you have roughly 0,77% chance of winning any given overture GA, but still, it considering how many enter them, it's not incredibly unlikely that someone will end up winning two.

This

But really, there is nothing about it in FAQ - you win two so you activate one, and mark both as received lol. Also, those are key GA's, so re-roll is impossible I think. I mean, how can you be sure that winner didn't activate second one on multi acc.

I think he was joking.

There is something in the FAQ about it and that's the fact that you have to activate the games you win in the account that wins the ga. There's nothing saying that if you win 2 gas and got keys you get to keep it as there's no way to know if it's used or not.

I know he was probably joking, but I really don't see solution for that problem. The only solution I can imagine is that thingy from indiegala. When you buy or get free key, it's hidden and you have to confirm that you want to see it.

To my knowledge, the RNG does not use the same winner more than once for any given giveaway. In other words, you can't win the same giveaway more than once.

If you happen to win different GA's for the same game, you redeem one and have the others re-rolled.

I think the question is more about the second case. For example with Overture there are many giveaways going right now, so what happens if you happen to win two or more of those giveaways. And yeah what you have to do is ask the ga creator for a re-roll. But the problem is that since the delivery of keys is automatic for these giveaways, they can't be sure that the key was not used.

  1. Pick a giveaway to accept.
  2. Ask for a re-roll on the other giveaways.
  3. Profit.

There is no difference between a key the dev gives you and a key you get from someone else. If you already have the game in your account, any other key(s) should remain unused.

Oh I'm not wondering myself, I was just explaining what the issue was. And I guess the difference is that since the dev giveaways are automatic they don't check to see if the user already won the giveaway before, but since you can't see if someone won the giveaway until they mark it as received, the problem could still happen even if you check the profile before you send the key. So you're right about it being pretty much the same if it happens to a user,.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I just try to enter one GA of a game at a time...then you never have to worry about winning the same game twice.

This happened to me recently and I am still waiting for a resolution.
I entered two developer giveaways for the same game. The giveaways were ending about 1 day apart from each other. These giveaways had a level requirement so I had a decent chance of winning. Much better odds than the Overture giveaways you mentioned in your example.
I won the first giveaway, activated it on my account, and marked as received. I totally forgot I was entered in another giveaway for the same game so I did not remember to remove my entry from the second giveaway. The next day I won the second giveaway for the same game from the same developer.
I added the developer to my friends on Steam and they added me back. I sent them a message asking them to re-roll but they did not respond. I created a support request to see if the SG support staff can assist me but I am still waiting for a response. I know the support staff is busy so I don't expect to hear back soon. Also, I had to create the support request under "Other" and I suspect requests in that category have a bit lower priority.
