Google+ is the Origin of social media. Get it out of my fucking life. I don't want it. I have Facebook, that's enough. I'm not using social media so I can let pervets see my entire life story, I just want to talk to my friends when I'm away from them. The only reason Google+ numbers are climbing is because of the Gustapo-style tactics Google is using to get more people to join their shitty, useless, broken Facebook-clone.
Once more of my favourite content providers move to Vimeo or Dailymotion, I'll be very happy to move away from YouTube. It's gone from a reliable video source to a pile of shit because some dickheads in charge think that they're "IMPROVING" service by breaking features and destroying the style.

You hit the wrong button searching a website, and BAM, Google's posted it to your wall thing. Combined with the fact they probably keep the largest source of information of everybody on the web...I don't like to sound paranoid, but I'm pissed off that I let them collect as much data as they have.

Agreed. All my home searching is done with DuckDuckGo as well. I agree with others in this thread. Google has become too invasive, too pushy, and too presumptuous.

YouTube is not partnering with Google. Google actually bought YouTube some years ago.

Sadly, you are probably right.. :(
I do not want youtube to die out.. but its kind of hard for it to stay in there when the people in charge keep on injecting poison into their systems.

"You are all probably aware that YouTube has partnered with Google"...? YouTube's been owned by google since late 2006. But yeah, essentially forcing google+ onto everyone on services that have nothing to do with g+ is pretty terrible. Because everyone wants to associate their real name with their online life, right?
EDIT: just saw the new comment section. utter shit. that's just AWFUL

Wait, are you telling me that the over 9000 people I see who post as Barack Obama, or Chuck Norris because they have google+ accounts with those names are ACTUALLY REALLY THEM?

I understand the business practice they are using, but they are screwing over the consumer by trying to implement it...
They want to monopolize a market by having all the social media and products linked together so you only require a single account, making it more inviting to a new user over having to remember about 8 different accounts. If they monopolize a market then they can make more money from that market through advertisements and products, therefore making a larger profit. you also see this process with twitch at the moment as they recently introduced longer, more annoying advertisements to make larger revenue as well as implement a pay monthly system so that you can simply pay the $9 per month and not worry about ads. The same thing can be considered for Steam aswell to be honest as they no longer want to deal with microsoft, so they are introducing new products as alternatives. In the long run I don't think valve would screw us as bad as what a company like google would but it makes you think...

The idea behind one account, one password, multiple services is not bad, but when you are given option to only use it for products that you don't need or use (gmail, g+), it just gives you tons of stuff that you don't need and the practice of forcing it so aggressively to customers is what makes my blood boil.
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah i hate it aswell but guess what? we as a consumer-base blindly accept it... This idea became popular due to devices like the iPhone, iPad and Smartphones as we blindly accepted it on those aswell as no-one knew what ramifications it could possibly have plus the general idea that the consumer does not actively research a product before buying it. I can guarantee less than 5% of apple users have read the ToS and actually understand what it entitles and I'd say it fairly similar with all social media. For instance you no longer own anything you post on Facebook. The moment you post it, you have signed a right to say that you give permission for Facebook to use any and all information however they see fit, its almost identical with Google+, however you can disable this option with Google+ in the options if you go looking deep enough (not that it really matters to me).

YouTube > Videos.
Google > Search stuff.
Google+ > ???
Why they think mixing them is better?
Oh conspiracy and HL3 confirmed.

The YouTube comment area is so messed up now. I don't want to see linked or shared posts in G+ circles or crap like that!
Just show me all the racist, sexist, ageist, immature, fanboy, and retarded comments that I am used to.

i really don't see the point in making a google+ profile for my youtube channel. i've been saying no to using my "real name" (my email associated with my channel is set up with first name "mister") and once got led through to creating that unwanted g+ profile (which i promptly deleted) because the only way not to is just to close the popup. i assume they'll force it eventually, and then i'll just have to deal with it. i don't get much activity on my channel anyway so the profile will probably just go mostly unnoticed.

You're slightly late to the party? And YouTube hasn't "partnered" with Google, simply because... Google owns YouTube? It bought YouTube few years ago.
You are not forced to use your full name, if you had bothered to do a little google search
If you can't leave a comment on YouTube you should check your browser or if you're even logged in youtube, because I've been using my nickname on YouTube for a long time with no issues.
Chill, everything's gonna be all right!

Except that every time I want to make a comment on a youtube video, google prompts me to use my real name. When I click no, it says 'OK, we'll ask you again later.' Next time I do it, it asks me again. No, they're not forcing me to use my full/real name, however they are being very annoying about it.

You are not forced to use your real name but you also can't keep your current name without creating G+ profile so yeah, Google profits from any of your 2 choices. Also linking the first thing that pops out of your search engine is not considered "research", I've checked all those discussions on the topic but the problem somehow seems to have dodged your channel.

I really didnt want to connect my google+ with my youtube channel but not a huge deal. The thing I hate about youtube is they always change the layout or change something where it completely fucks something. For example you dont even get notifications on the front/home page like you used to when you get a private message or a reply to one of your comments. I do believe there is an email option for this but it is not something I am wanting to enable.

+1
I hate how weird YouTube has gotten, suddenly comments are jumbled, everytime I want to keep my name but use my own through Google+, BAM. Another useless page. My full name won't get users that know my YouTube.
I agree with what you said.

It's not that simple. If you are in charge of site that's being visited by billion users wouldn't you care what people think about it. They have great concept and they are constantly ruining it because they care more about profit than peoples satisfaction. I love YouTube as site but when you notice what it being done with it you realize it's just another capitalist bullshit.

Corporatist. Hello shareholder model. Ruins damn near everything.
Comment has been collapsed.
So they have a few thousand people complaining about a change to the site. (Granted probably more, but it is youtube, after all.) Most people simply don't care. And really what do you care if they "ruin" youtube? You could easily go to another video site.
Also, someone smarter than me said, if something is free, you are the product.

"You are all probably aware that YouTube has partnered with Google"
Someone call Slowbro news - Google bought Youtube in 2006.
Comment has been collapsed.
The whole thing is wrong, they got bought out, no partners. Youtube = Google

I can't even comment on videos without either a Google+ profile or "page". Guess I'm never commenting again.

That's better, the Youtube comment section is the worst place on internet to have a discussion.

I'm currently pissed and amazed with the amount of shit that's coming out with every new redesign of YouTube. I feel like if you entered the office in YouTube building where they come up with all new designs for page, you would find one chimpanzee smashing his big stupid hands on keyboard.
You are all probably aware that YouTube was bought by Google and is now trying to follow big daddys Facebook steps into turning YouTube into a nice social website where you can share your video experience with all you friends and family, also known as GOOGLE FUCKING PLUS.
I'm sure most of you are familiar that YouTube is politely asking you to start using your full name on your channel and if you don't feel like it, that's ok, they will ask you on next video again when you might have changed your mind. 3 times now I even had to delete G+ profile that I didn't even want to create and Google kindly created for me and linked it with my YouTube channel. I know that people that are actually using G+ don't see what's the big deal about this, but for me this kind of aggressive expansion really gets on my nerves.
So I would like to hear your opinion on the subject, please comment, if you think I'm over reacting do tell me so. I've tried to post my dissatisfaction somewhere on YouTube but as it turns out, YouTube is so fucked up that I can't even reply to most of the comments there, in fact I can't even leave a comment of my own at the moment.
With all this being said, I'd like to end this thread in funny note.
EDIT: if you are like me fed up with popup asking you to change your channel name and are using some sort of adblock, you can create custom filter with this rule to make it go away
