Prease Help, I cant even play trine! or revenge of titans :S

What? I clean and blow out my tower and laptop once a month. That is, I remove the back to get into the laptop. And since the laptop keyboard isn't an old style pop-out-keys to to blow out the crap, I have to remove the entire thing.

Compressed air ftw

It does great job especially when you turn the can upside down and it sprays water :P

Never used one though. I tear everything apart and clean them with a brush. This way i get more connected with my PC.

Depends. Some people just spray into the fans which actually makes it worse. If you know what you're doing, cleaning the fans and grills with a tweezer and cotton sticks is the better way

There programms where you can adjust the speed of you cpu fan, "speedfan" is one. Try it out. You can also go into your boot-menu and change the Speed + Temperature where you pc shut down.

msi afterburner has a tool that lets you manually set the fan speed. However, I doubt it will work if you can't even run trine. You may need to clean it or something.

Yeah if you are talking about your Graphics Card doubledragons suggestion will do the job. I used it once too.

Fan is locked

You need to click a button above it I think to unlock it. The auto button I believe. You may have already tried that, I'm not sure.

Habe you tried looking into BIOS fan settings? Maybe it was set to silent. Also, try downloading some programms for fan control, they can help if your fan supports it.

WHAT IS overheating, if you can post a pic using HWMonitor
also room temps and what kind of case are you using should help
main thing is to keep you case clean and dust free. and have a nice airflow running in the case

ah i see what your problem is, your laptop is known to have overheating issues.
Try this:

Hello,
I decided to sacrifice 1 percent (just) of performance for the sake of cool temperatures and silent fan. I have HP DV6, with AMD Turion RM-74 and HD4650.

So, Yes, You will loose up to 1 percent Your CPU power, but heyh, this processor is so fast that You will barelly notice the change. You will still watch HD content with 720p and everything else smoothly. Note, that gaming will be harder part but consider Your laptop not as a device created for heavy gaming.
However,
I rarely do play NBA 2K10 on my laptop. It is very cpu demanding. After I've done the above, my CPU temp never reached beyond 71 percent while gaming, GPU - 75 percent.
Without the above mentioned my CPU went over 100 and GPU over 90.
No more overheating.
So, how to reduce Your notebook temps:
(i) Power Options -> More power options,
(ii) Balanced plan -> Change settings,
(iii) Change advanced power settings
(iv) Processor power management -> Maximum processor state -> On Battery - 50 percent, Plugged in - 99 percent.
(vi) Save changes and close.
Now, mine temperatures are - idle 48, heavy load - 57, extremelly heavy load (HD 720p content) - 62-63. (At the moment my CPU cores are at 47 celsius).
And please note, that the notebooks coolers are just a joke and designed not to cool your laptops, but to take away your money. Their effieciency is minimum: -1/2 celcius.
Best regards.

Well you have a HP laptop and an old AMD proc that likes to overheat.
HP has very bad ventilation and as all laptops are prone to dust buildup on the exhaust vents.
Problem is you cant reach the vents and the ventilator on HP laptops without voiding some warranty.

So get your self a nice pressurized air canister and just go crazy with it on the exhaust vents.
For speeding up the fan look into your bios (if there is such an option there) and maybe try SpeedFan

My laptop is relatively new, but requires a portable fan (powered through a USB slot and aimed at the heat exhaust port) if I want to play any games on it. I would advise you to clean out your heatsink or use my method.

In my experience a relatively new VGA not only needs a driver installed, but also a special software from it's producers, software that automatically regulates the speed of the fans on VGA for optimal temperature. So if that software is missing, the VGA and other computer components overheat.

If you use laptop, notebook. Chances are the fan is dead. This is a common problem with laptop graphic cards.

Replace the fan, contact the hardware provider support to get your fan replace. Else in the long run all your hardware will die.

Try to put something underneath your laptop so it could have more breathing place for air vent.

Hmm, I got a problem with my CPU cooler. Fan wasn't properly installed it was stuck... Good thing is that it run passively at under 80C, while gaming...

Had a similar problem a year ago. It turns out the fan was stuck due to the high amount of dust it got inside it so I used a compressed air can to clean up all the fans to get them up and running.

invest in a cooler pad... its an external peripheral device which is quite literally a box with a large fan in it designed to blow wind into the laptop and you quite literally just rest the laptop on it. they cost roughly $30 for a decent one (mine cost me $28 at a local computer fair and it was well worth the money since its a Metabox P151Em1, 3GB GDDR5 GTX670, I7-3630QM quad core ivybridge which was manually overclocked to 3.6 GHz, 16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM).

this will only work if you have a computer which gets about 5-10 degrees higher than it normally should. you are probably overloading it if you are playing newer games but if it gets to unbearable heat playing games like trine/trine2 then you probably have a busted fan somewhere and as spacy1993 suggests: contact manufacturer/computer shops to get it replaced (and i mean the dedicated computer shops such as your msi's or NSCOM (custom computer shops may be able to help out however its not guaranteed so you would be better off with manufacturer)
