It happens to me all the time for some reason, at work and at home.

Bing > Google because Bing Rewards. Free Amazon $ for zero effort.

Google does the same. It's called screenwise. And you could also use swagbucks and similar search engines.
Your data is sold around 500$ per person if i remember correctly ( depending on the seller, buyer and amount and quality of data about you ), not counting ads. Cannot find the source thought so not sure about the exact value. Might be in a dark corner of cryptome.

No, they stopped do MSP when they discontinued Microsoft Points.

There's still Microsoft currency you can redeem for. It's more expensive now, but it's still there. I actually looked and IF there's no tax on Amazon orders (I think there is though) then it'd be cheaper to just buy the MS currency on Amazon.
I can't do that however, because the stupid thing wanted me to input a credit card as soon as I tried to checkout (it didn't even give me a gift card option before asking me for a CC number). I don't think I'd want to give them a card number I wasn't going to use on their site, even if I had one (which I don't).

I'll do without the logging of my ip and search, without the cross-referencing them, without the profile building, and without the selling of this data.
Ixquick does the job very well for me, and if i need something really hard to find i will just use specialized search engines.
This being said i am indeed surprised by your result comparison.

I get access to academic search engines through my University. But those aren't going to be able to find steamgifts posts.

rofl no worries, enjoy it :-)
startpage is the same thing basically with a built in proxy to access the results ( i use a vpn so i don't care about it thought ) if you want to check it out as well.

That's just Google defending itself against what it thinks are bot-generated queries, to prevent DDoS-type shit and people making automated search bots that use their infrastructure. Also, try <inurl> instead of <site>. Gets you more results.

I understand why the captchas are there, but they keep appearing in a loop. I enter captcha, another captcha appears, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm not retarded enough to keep entering the incorrect letters.
Anyways, I just switched to Chrome and I can search again.
Edit: and firefox is working again too. I guess it's just an intermittent problem.

The loop is definitely weird. Perhaps NoScript / AdBlock or so blocking a domain associated with the captcha? And yeah, after a bit of time has passed the IP-based redirect gets removed.

I found http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/hXJ3A/are-we-just-picking-random-dates-for-the-bundle-list-now with Bing and that one plus another one about bundle stars with google, so i'd say google is better... O.o

Nah, every company that spies on you sells the data to others.

Use startpage instead of google, it has a buit in proxy to access the results and there is no or miminum logging

+1
I'll stick to Google spying on me on only my phone, for now.

Duckduckgo are one of those who don't respect their own privacy policies ( cookies, third party or not ), and most of all they are based in the US, with all it implies it terms of orders and gag orders.
I used them for a while myself, but after reading several IT security, privacy etc advocates reviews and opinions, and just decided to stay clear of them.

There's a website called bingiton or something that lets you compare google and bing searches.

I prefer both since I can collect rewards toward gift cards or free rentals. :P

Whenever I use Bing (because it'S set up by default on a computer I have to use) I almost always end up doing my search again on Google because I got no valid result from Bing. Never met any captcha on there either.

I am waiting for Google to fuck up all his services with Google+, then I'm moving to Bing or something else. For now, it's alright.

Are you trying to tell me they didn't alerady? :D

Yeah the funny thing is that micro$oft is doing exactly the same horrors as google, so they could make the same toys aimed at themselves.

When I search for what you searched I get 3 results. This post and 2 older ones :P
I only use Google because I know how Google works. I've visited some presentations about Google and it's services. Some of their services (like ReCaptcha) are just amazing :3

Wow, I can't believe it, but Bing is actually better at search results than google sometimes. I was looking for a post I made a couple of weeks ago.
site:steamgifts.com/forum Reaxxion jatan11t
on google gives a single result, but the wrong one. Using the same search on Bing, I got the correct post.
Also, I tried changing the search terms on google, but after several searches, I got stuck in an endless captcha loop. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
