What exactly is the point of a fake/demo giveaway ?

I don't see the point in creating a fake giveaway or even a demo giveaway, maybe you'd able to explain the reason why, other than just boredom ?
The only reason I can see is to make other users spend points so they won't be able to enter giveaways, gaining a ridiculously low statistic advantage.
