I've just received a game on Steam Gifts... when I went to play it, I realized that it was a trial version (demo), and I had limited access to the game. I went back to the giveaway and found nothing about it being trial, and not the full game (the cost to enter suggested that it was the full game).
Any ideas if that's allowed? If not, what should I do? Thanks in advance.

Will do. Unfortunately, I've marked as received when the key was accepted, and didn't realize that it was a trial game. As soon as it allows me, I'll mark it as 'not received'. Thank you very much.

The site FAQ says demos, trials and beta cannot be given away. More over the giveaway should be as described. Probably best contact the giveaway creator. If it is the tumblestone trial, its been given away a lot of times, i think yesterday was the last time, i activated it probably over a year ago and it gives full game access and the trial hasn't be stopped as of yet. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information about the FAQ. I didn't know that, especially considering I've received (quite a long time ago) a beta key for Guns of Icarus, and was very disappointed for not being the full game. I've been wondering for a while if that was legal or not, since beta keys are pretty much worthless, especially on unknown indie games. While rules might have changed, I'm glad that it's not permitted nowadays.

Tumblestone? I recommend hide that game completely, I haven't seen anyone yet giving full game, only trial version abuse.

Very interesting. Thank you for the information, I'll be keeping an eye out for that game in the future.
