Read about another game last week (can't remember) but seems 80 euro slowly becomes the new price.

Oh I see! That sounds very interesting and pretty nice deal. I'm surprise they have 3 games. I remember when companies used to give just 1 title that used to just come out. But 3 is a solid one.

For me the only price is 75%+ off. There are only two exceptions - Red Dead Redemption 2 and Persona 5 Royal on PC will be my second day 1 buy when it goes live on Steam.

Yeah,I knew about its price for months and it shocked me.I'll probably buy it in a couple of years when it goes down to like 20 bucks

CoD MW2 2022 is also 70 euros or 100 for the "Vault Edition"

fwiw, Square Enix rarely lowers prices or has sales of more than 50% off on their first party RPG, sometimes 60% for less popular entries. Any deeper sales have all been acquired studios like Eidos.

I have enough games to keep me going until games priced like that are on deep discount, or cdkeys will have it cheaper, I won't pay that much for a game, and I hope that many people think the same.

Currently it's a Square and 2k thing. I hope don't more do that as well.
60€ is mostly not the full experience and some AAA games has MTX or lootboxes etc. This shouldn't be support!
That's why I buy mostly in Bundles or good (Complete version) sales.

I NEVER pay more as 15€ for a game and in the average 4€. Outside of a bundle.
I have no problem with waiting a few years...

That's what I do too. I'm always a few years behind in games, be it because I don't always have time to play and the backlog keeps growing or because I make the conscious choice not to buy on release (except for Nintendo franchises.)

I do support the price increase if that eliminates in-game purchases in some games. If it doesn't, I'll just continue avoiding them regardless of price as I always have.

I need to push ignore button only once, and that is my FINAL decision. It will be never in my FANTASY to buy any game for that price. I not going to REMAKE my decision, better spend that money on food and heating, Europe is now belongs to the third world anyway, so where are the -30-40% cheaper base prices?

Agree, for us in Hungary prices should be 1) in HUF, as an old leak showed (which is sadly cancelled for now) and 2) minimum 20-30% cheaper as a 60€ game is 1/5 of their monthly pay for a lot of people....

The last game I paid full price for was Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 in 2010. I went to the midnight release (are midnight releases in stores for games still a thing?) I'm interested in the new Square Enix games, but I will just wait for a deep sale.

Games have been more than $60 for a long time now. They pretend it's $60 for normal version and more for deluxe version, but really it's $60 for a lite version of the game and more for the full game.

Haha 80€ for one game... sure no. 60€ was already non sense.
5-10€ if i want. 15€ if am desperate to play (which i was 2x in my entire life and bought PUBG at 12€ and GTA V at 15€)

I'm not excited about this development but gamers generally seem to live with the illusion that inflation doesn't exist for the games industry. Even now in 2022, as inflation is major news pretty much all around the globe.

+1
I remember paying 100 DM (50€) for regular games and 120DM (60€) for a UK imported game here in Germany.
That was Quake 3 Arena. It came out in 1999!
Years later people act as if developing games and software is somehow not affected by inflation. Never mind the huge amount of people working on non-indie titles now.
If something seems overpriced then don't buy it or wait for it to become cheaper.

And before we forget, Steam made changes to their cut after Epic few years ago.

I don't think this new prices are fair tbh.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

On a sidenote steam apparently even take cuts of steam points you give to others, like if you give 4800 of points, the person only really receives 1600, never knew until i actually hovered my mouse above things. Steam is greedy.

Steam is greedy.

I definitely agree.

The main thing I wanted to say in my post was something else tho. Instead of %30, all those big selling titles have a lot less cut (%20 if I am not wrong) which means they were already getting %10 more on just Steam, and %18 more on Epic and MS store.

So saying "prices are same for years" are actually pretty much bs imo.

Oh Jesus Christ, does your whining have no limits?
Ofc these trophies must have an actual price and can't be 100% forwarded to the account receiving the trophy. Otherwise the following result would be inevitable: People would ping pong trophies back and forth between each other.
A spends X points to reward B. B spends X points to reward A, A spends X points ...
Everyone would hoard thousands of trophies without losing any Steam Points at all.

If those rewards are supposed to have any meaning at all, they also must come at a price. Anyone with the ability to think forward easily comes to that conclusion. I guess that doesn't include people with the preference to reduce every matter to companies being greedy ...

Oh wow does it has to be that harsh? I can say things too but i won't this time, like seriously what have i done to you?

It has to have a price but 4800 points to give against 1600 you get is much of a charge yes, anyone with the ability to do math that is more then 50%. AND offcourse you know well that giving points to users aren't the only rewards, you can also spend points on so many things in the shop, and yes that has a price too. In the end awards are useless the same as levels other then boasting.
Steam asking a bigger cut and people going to Epic or GOG does only confirm that Steam on it's own is greedy, this just adds to that, not the reason alone..

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, I felt like being harsh. Because this isn't the first time that you make a dramatic public appearance, bemoaning circumstances and judging others (in this case "greedy Steam") while the sole reason is that you failed to understand the pure basics of the given topic.

And about those "valuable" Steam Points; These are just a bonus, provided by Steam. For free. Unless you buy games with the intent to receive Steam Points.
If you favor Epic taking 12% the same applies as always: Vote with your wallet and switch from Steam to Epic.

I honestly believe the poster above me started saying steam was greedy (maybe i was wrong or she deleted it) in which i just agreed and added an another example. Although saying the prices are not fair could be very well be saying they are greedy, even so why do you care to be harsh and even the need to reply about such a comment?
About dramatic public appeareances we can argue, but i never made judgements about others, you are totally lying there, because of my past i never will, i repeated that several times, i have mighty good reasons and i believe in karma, receive what you give.

Since that's "cleared".

No why if Epic is constantly giving away games and even would buy a game to just see it will be given away free a few weeks later, and i am not a dev or publisher, and i do like steam, it's not my responsibility in the end, it's theirs.
And look at the devs/publishers that do make an Epic exclusive and see how much flack they get (and not by me).

For the sake of delivering a complete picture: there's actually a grey market for Steam points where the exchange rate is much lower than the official 1$ spent on Steam=100 Steam points.

"Hello dear Friend!

Steam awards / Steam Points Service

Price -
1,000 Points - $0.29
2,000 Points - $0.59
3,000 Points - $0.89
5,000 Points - $1.49
10,000 Points - $2.95
20,000 Points - $5.95
30,000 Points - $11.95
50,000 Points - $14.95

Payment Methods - Paypal , BTC , ETH , SKRILL

after the purchase, I send you the points, you will receive them in 14 days (this is the steam rule)
If you have any questions or you want to buy contact me

To buy - contact me by Discord"

This isn't the only offer as you can imagine and I advise strongly against it as it might be a scam.

Wow, didn't know that, but yeah this is so easy to scam with.

Better to have it paid to paypal, if they don't send the points you can still get a refund through them though, right?
