Does it pay-off to buy the Season Pass and the Premium (preorder) content, like the Mechromancer pack etc OR POSSIBLY to wait for a GOTY upgrade (containing all of the items, including skins)?

Cheers.

Argamore

Edit 1: Thank you for your replies, I think I'll buy the SP soon, and the Mechromancer pack, I love Borderlands really really much, it's my favorite game, but sometimes money is the issue, oh well :D

Cheers

DLCs are always useless shit who the devs make to earn more money, wait for the exapnsions and those stuff to get on sale and don't buy the skins and visuals is my suggestion, applies to all games with DLC's mostly, if you don't want the visuals of course!

Borderlands has a history of great DLCs though. There are many DLC content packs out there for many games that I have thoroughly enjoyed for a fair price. The Borderlands 2 season pass is worth it if you like the game.

My opinion is that the Borderlands 1 DLCs were amazing, while the Borderlands 2 ones are alright.

Not bad, but alright.

Agreed. The last 2 DLC on BL1 were better than the main game. I've only played the first DLC on BL2 but it added some interesting weapons, new vehicle and raid bosses, not useless sh*it imo :)

The BL2 DLCs are short, that's the only reason why they're "alright".

Good history? Only half of BL1 DLCs were good and now they started charging even for increased level cap in BL2.

I'm not giving money to 2K games any more, that's for sure. If you must buy BL2, wait for GOTY.

Your opinion.

The increased level cap is a bonus if you own the season pass. And the season pass is good value for money.

Opinion of many people from what I've read. One DLC is pointless arena battle and one DLC has no fast travel and it's ridden with bugs.

I don't see how season pass is good value when it's 60% of original game's price.

When initially released in Germany at least, it was only 10€. It was on Amazon US for $10 too recently, I thought?

BL1 had Moxxi's arena, and you only had one spawn point for each of the BL1 DLCs from what I remember.

With more than 60% more content. Especially with the increased level cap ;) I got lucky with the steam price bug and got it for the price of one dlc, but I would happily pay full price for the pass.

Not all DLC is evil, this is the point I'm trying to make. Whenever new content is made for a game, it costs developers money. Considering the quality and scale of Borderlands 2, they deserve it.

And good part of that money goes to 2K and that's what bothers me, they are serious DLC / season pass offenders.

Agreed. And seriously, 2K is one of the better publishers for games. I really don't get why you're pissed at them.

DLCs and season passes are pretty much the rule with everything they release.

What game doesn't have season pass nowadays. Every AAA game has DLCs and season pass right now.

And none of them will see my money.

Depends what DLCs. Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion was incredible, Knights of the Nine was another good one. Gods & Kings for Civ V is/was a big game changer (looking forward to the One World DLC). For me, Borderlands 1 DLC is well worth it.

There is honestly no answer to that quesion because a GOTY upgrade doesn't exist yet.

I don't think a GOTY upgrade will be released. A GOTY version is a better marketing strategy for 2K, even though they fuck over the veteran players.

How does it hurt the veteran players? Sure, you pay more, but you are playing today. Bargain hunter might have to wait a year to play the game.

Also, don't know about borderlands 2, but multiplayer games are often dead in 1 year's time - bargain hunter pays less and gets less, too.

Actually, you're right. We get to play it much earlier so I shouldn't really bitch about it. It does upset me that someone who isn't really a fan of the game gets all the content and I still have all my bits and parts of DLC or have to spend MORE than them, to complete my collection. But there's not much anyone can do about that, so life goes on.

Someone who isn't really a fan of the game? Where are you getting that? I have over two hundred hours in BL1 and I'm waiting for the GOTY edition because I don't have nearly two hundred dollars to waste on BL2. How does my lack of money make me less of a fan than you?

Perhaps I could have worded that better, so I apologise. I was quick to say it because Borderlands 2 has hit dirt cheap prices since it's release. Even the DLC has hit dirt cheap prices. I assumed any "fans" of the game would have bought it by now :S

Why shouldn't the price go down after some time?

The GOTY edition (if one does eventually exist), will always be better value than buying each dlc seperate.

If you like the game and have some extra money, then buy the season pass. It's worth it imo. If you're short on cash and can wait for 6 months more, then buy the goty upgrade when they come out (probably would be around 3 months?) after they release the last season pass DLC.

I only have the Seasons Pass and I don't feel I'm missing anything; but if you want these skin packs (I don't) you might as well wait.

I admit I was slightly annoyed by the Civ V Gods and Kings price compared to the $3 for the GOTY upgrade when it was on sale.

It pays off more the earlier you get the Season Pass and Premium content. Obviously, if one wants early access to the DLCs, buying a Season Pass would be more preferable. If one can wait a year or so, the GOTY is also a good choice.

I would (and I will) wait for a GOTY version. Those graphics look "fresh" even after a few years, and the price tag is going to be low also.

I'm going to buy Season Pass only. The only DLCs that mattter the me are those with additional stories in SP.

If you enjoy the game immensely, then it will be worth the money regardless. It just depends on WHEN you want to get it, i.e. if you are willing to wait for a discount or a GOTY version, which may or may not actually see the light of day at some point. Bought the Season Pass recently for 10 bucks and there's just so much more to do now that it should keep me busy for quite some time. No regrets here.
