You are imo far better of getting a head set that is not bundled with a keyboard and mouse

Though i suppose that also depends on what your looking for?

I use a nice stereo headphones i do not really do online so for now i have held off on a mic.I get really nice base and nice mids which i like, stuff i could not get from the head sets i tried at Wal-mart unless i spent like 75 anything less i did not get the same quality as a cheaper stereo headphones, and yes Wal-mart had Turtle Beach,Steel Series,Razor and the cheaper brands.

Those are pretty nice

This stays within your price range and i think it is a better deal but this is just what i think.

If you have more of a budget then i would buy a nice headset if your going to use it a lot for gaming

I have a Logitech G105 keyboard and i love it and it has led backlit which i love, and just a 20 dollar mouse since i usually use a controller since i mostly play offline but still i have been pleased with my mouse and keyboard

Anyhow in the end good luck with whatever you choose

I am with you on that i still not a big mech fan,i mean if i was a comp gamer maybe i could see the plus of it,but for me the only real plus i found with a mech keyboard and the extra money i could spend on things that would do me better.

I found it made me no better in gaming,i did find the pros of it was the clicks allowing you to be a bit more precious with key inputs, but still did not up my game any lol. That is something that takes time, not some fancy keyboard or mouse can do

I'm using a Essential Deathstalker at the moment, but would prefer to have a keyboard with backlighting.
Not looking for anything fancy and expensive.

So I'm deciding to go with mostly bundles, like the CM Storm Devastator since it looks awesome.

Do not buy a gaming headset, you'll typically get worse quality mics and earphones that the cost of two separately. Literally any mic+stand will work fine, then get quality studio headphones.

As for keyboards, plenty of research has been done into them. Lights will cost you, as usual. The recommended choice is a Filco or Ducky with the switches you want (blue and brown for typing, black and red for gaming - these are generic choices and your results will vary) Razers are decent but overpriced. Great selection of backlights however, if you really want to show off.

Lots of debate goes on over mice. Find one that fits your grip. Razer mice are comfy but have a history of breaking ~2 years. The Logitech G9 is highly recommended if you only use a claw grip. Try others from logitech, roccat, etc and figure out which fit your hand best.

tl;dr if you're poor skip the lights and anything that says gaming on it.
