…and I am not frightened of dying, you know
Any time will do, I don't mind
Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.

It's the Definite Edition, i can't be bothered to go in send a ticket, wait weeks for 5 points cv more.

Becoming or staying healthy surely improves chances to live longer, but if you feel miserable by doing so, it's contradictionary.
I doubt you'll be able to regret anything after death, so just enjoy life as long as you can.

I hate this way of thinking. It's religious death apologia when sane people asked 'why we suffer and die if granda sitting on cloud so good', I'd live forever healthy if possible (and thanks to science, it might be). There are so many new games, music, books and movies made each year, you'd never be bored but we will never see what geniuses will produce 500 or 1000 years from now making culture and entertainment we have now look like primitive childish scribbles :(

living forever! , that sound depressing to be honest
you're forgetting something , this world is also filled with bad people and bad things too
imagine living 1000 years with people that constantly destroy, pollute and ravage ...ect

Those of us who like entertainment, don't get bored, true. I'm always surprised to hear non-gamers reading about boredom. Living very long or forever would only be bad though if you're the only one or if it requires money or power to achieve it.
And then there's overpopulation. Who would want to decide upon birth control or who gets to live forever?
Only solution for that would be transhumanism or a space expansion project.

I didn't mean to disagree, just to add. I'm not even doing it myself, I'm still smoking, I could surely eat even healthier and do more sports.
A healther life might add like to 5-20 years, depending on how bad it could be in comparison (like lung cancer or a stroke at 50 or 60), but if you feel miserable by quitting unhealthy stuff, nothing is won, because you don't enjoy life during this. You could also still be hit by a car and it was useless. Upon a fast death you won't even have time to regret anything and then.. nothing.

But if someone enjoys their life, why not ask themselves that? I mean we already waste 1/3th on sleeping, whoever designed us, why not made us live to be 200 (like turtles) instead of 70-80 or a bit more with luck.

Dead and taxes are always the one sure thing in life.

I had a very far fear of dying when i was little (till i was about 12) not so much the dieing itself part, but more the idea of just not being there anymore, during the day, in bed, i had constant random thoughts about it.

What if this is already increased life span from 20-25 years? Would 200 be enough, instead of 600?

Got to do best with what we're being given, just more of something won't make it better

Who says it's increased? Our governments that wants us to retire as late as possible.
My dad died in his early 70's, and i know many around me, even famous dutch people, all in their 70's or 80's so there is no larger lifespan, because even in the middle ages people reached that age, especially those that had it financially good.
We also have way more diseases, the amount of people getting cancer that grow.

On a sidenote with 90% processed junk food in our grocery stores i am surprised we even have a so called "larger lifespan".

Yes, personally 200 (if in sound state of mind) would be enough, you can also quote queen with who wants to live forever?
I certainly wouldn't, in the end you get bored of all the things you done, see how the world is growing more and more to it's doom.
And i like to believe (sometimes how hard it might be) that dead isn't just the end, even though you can raise some questions why it can't exist.

And got to do the best with what we are given is so easy to say, not everyone has it best despite their trying, or say that some parents whose kid died at 2 years old, don't think they would agree the same.

¿How long is it possible to live?
"According to mathematical models, our longest life expectancy is about 150 years," says Dr. Blander. However, “we know that genetic manipulation of model organisms increases their life expectancy by up to 100%, so taking into account point number one [humans] can live up to 244 years.”

That sounds great and physically is one thing, but our brain somehow has to stay sharp too, you don't want to live another 100 years with dementia.

But i don't think we going to get their for atleast another 200 years.

There is no reason why humans couldn't in principle live indefinitely. It might have to be as mind uploads or in mechanical bodies. Or perhaps just as a brain in a vat. At least that's what I would assume that maintaining the same organic human body for long periods might prove impossible but perhaps not.

Not governments. Corpos. If you don't have social security network, you can be exploited and enslaved for longer. We already produce everything to have 20 hour long work weeks and retirement at 50 for everyone along with basic living expenses free for all, it's just being stolen by 1% who hide trillions of $ in tax havens (enough to end world hunger 20x over). Alas, as long as idiots will vote for 'benefits for the rich only, it will trickle down LOL' ultra rich puppets bought mass media push constantly the bondage will continue...

Doing the best with what was given can be applied to any situation. Everyone's best, is different, given our family situation, age, even mental state. Like situations of losing a child, or losing a parent without even knowing them, and growing up in a single-parent household along a mentally handicapped brother. Which I sadly have a pretty in-depth experience, so the shock value is kind of lost on me.

Anyhow, doing best with what was given is again, relative. Sometimes it's getting out of bed, sometimes it's competing at world-class level. Doing out current best, and striving for just a bit more is what leads us forward, even if the forward is just tomorrow, not more.

We're not 'given' anything, all the shitty short term advantages evolution picked over long run benefts ruin our bodies TAKING not giving us lifespan. There are animals that can live hundreds if not thousands of years, people 200 years from now will laugh at this way of thinking, same as we now laugh at medieval people thinking diseases and 30 year lifespans max for 60% of the population were good :(

Death is a soluble problem that won't be thing in the future. Unfortunately it probably won't be solved in our lifetimes.
People will look back horrified humans used to die. It will still happen but will be something rather rare.

Great backing vocal(s) can really do it too like in this song, that woman can sing, not some of those over the top female singers of this age that think as long as it's loud it's good, no.
Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar and Mike Oldfield - Inner Child are great examples too.

It might just me being weird, but for me, death is not something one should be afraid, after all sooner or later, we all would have to face it. Yeah, sure enjoy your life to the fullest, but don't create that illusion that you can cheat death.

Well, being afraid of dying isn't the same thing as worrying about death. Being afraid of dying is a healthy thing, it reminds you to be careful and not take stupid risks and hopefully there are a couple of people in your life that would get upset if you weren't around anymore, and you care about that part. The goal is to live a life where you satisfy yourself enough that when you come to the age of dying (If you're lucky enough) you feel ready. Most people do.

This is something I was wondering about last night, I am not afraid of dying, simply not. It's like getting your blood taken, you are expecting it and it hurts a lot. If you die it happens, anytime, anywhere, anyplace. It will hurt but it will be fine in the end. I try to live this way, one day at a time and try to achieve as much as possible taking small steps to be grateful with what I have and what I am accomplishing. I am looking forward to the day when I can say I am happy with my life and what I have accomplished and say that I can die in peace, hopefully I'll see that day because it would be sad having to go before that thought comes into my mind. I find happiness in myself and I create my own joy and you should too, it helps a lot more than having to rely on other people to be happy.

Life was too short, way too many interesting things I wanted to do. I wanted more life, "father"...

Then I got sick, but even with reduced capabilities and adjusted ambitions there was still way too much I could do or achieve than in a mere lifetime.

Then I was seriously let down by the people charged with my care (my condition was manageable and even partly reversible) and I got steadily worse instead of better, and over years the war to retain my life took its toll.

I may not survive much longer, and it wasn't for lack of trying, but death is not to be feared, it's just bloody annoying (or a necessary relief).

But never give up until you really have to... (And consider that even if you think you do, you're probably wrong.)

I'd still take infinite life and never get bored so long as I wasn't in unbearable pain (physically or emotionally).

BTW these great folks are wrong, but it doesn't really matter: Death is Not the End

Wasn't aware of this remastered version of Pulse, sounds really nice.
All the talking about dying and Pink Floyd music reminds me of my best friend, he was a huge fan of the band, we once traveled together to watch one of David Gilmour's shows when he came to Argentina on a tour... like a decade ago. Oof, time passes fast, doesn't it? Really miss the guy, he was like the brother I never had. Death really just happens without warning sometimes.

Im just afraid of the process of dying. Reaching that point.
I hope I can make health alterations to leave with a smile rather than in pain.
But death itself? I think its just nothingness. The only time that matters, is the one we experience, in the known.

The concept of Death is more painful to spectate rather than experiencing it urself. It hurts my heart to know that there will be a time when my mum wont be there anymore :(
