So for a couple of days, I couldn't log into the Steam Desktop App. It had suddenly stopped and gave me the dreaded options of "Retry Connection" or "Go Offline" I thought it was a temporary thing, like updating servers or something so I waited a couple of hours. That wasn't the case. So here's what I did to try and fix it:

• Turned off all firewalls(though I've never had to do this; I've already allowed Steam access)
• Rebooted computer.
• Made sure I typed in my password correctly(I could log into other Steam related stuff i.e. Steam Gifts, Steam website, etc. absolutely fine)
• Killed all Steam processes and restarted them.
• Made sure my internet was fine and dandy.

I didn't want to submit a support ticket just yet as I wanted to find out if anyone else had this problem recently and fixed it.

Thank you for any help you can give!

P.S. I moved Steam from my C: to my H: a while ago but it had worked absolutely fine until now. I just noticed that in my programs, Steam doesn't show up but it shows up in the actual folder. I am currently in the process of copying my Steamapps folder and uninstalling Steam via regedit.

Edit:
Thank you for all your replies! I was checking through my Steam trading stuff through the website and it said that I would not be allowed to trade for 7 days due to logging into a new device (I was CCleaning my PC, probably accidentally deleted cookies). I'll wait a while to see if that was the problem.

I think you could try this command steam://flushconfig before you reinstall your steam. It, basically refresh your steam files.

Hmmmm try uninstalling steam & then remove everything from the registry..I mean search "steam" in regedit...BTW go to Control Panel--->Internet Properties---Connections--->LAN Settings and if the proxy thing is checked, uncheck it.("Use a proxy server for..")

You should never ever move the main Steam app off the boot drive.

Have you look in to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/logs/ folder at all log file to see if there anything that may point to errors.

On the new drive you want put your game file on crate a folder called Program Files (x86) and then a sub folder Steam ?:/Program Files (x86)/Steam

Move or just copy just the SteamApps folder off the main drive to your new game folder then del SteamApps

In your Steam setting you can add content libraries from diff harddrive by going to the setting downloads click on STEAM LIBARY FOLDER add then sel ?:/Program Files (x86)/Steam

Make backup copy of C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam the userdata folder

If it still install the uninstall Steam reboot but if all ready uninstall the reinstall it then uninstall and reboot.

Run regedit look very close lee at

HKEY CURRENT USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

HKEY CURRENT USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOcen

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOcen

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOcen
