Hey, folks.
First of all, here is a giveaway for opening this thread.

I feel like playing some good horror, mystery or detective games this Halloween. I know that there is a thread about the sale, but I'm only interested in suggestions from the genres above. I could search these tags on steam, but it's faster to just ask people.

EDIT: Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! I bought a few of them and probably will buy 1-2 more. :)

So far, I found these:
Bad Dream: Coma - 90%
Ghoststory - 90%
The Wild Eternal - 80%
Through the Woods - 80%
The Crow's Eye - 80%
Perception - 66%
The Eyes of Ara - 60%

Some additions from the suggestions, if you're too lazy to scroll down:
Pathologic Classic HD
Silence of the Sleep
Dead Space Collection
Darkest Dungeon
Narcosis
Detention

Bucket Detective
Play With Me

Not really into horror games. Closest that comes is my mind is Oxenfree(more of an adventure - thriller).
It's quite good if you like adventure games.
*Edit: So, I see you've played it already :)

It's a great game. I hope to replay it someday and grab the achievements I missed.

Simulacra from one of the recent humble bundles fits under every genre you want.[horror/mystery and you get to do some detective work in a way] I was shocked how good the game was.

It looks like something I'd like to play, but I'll wait for a better deal. For now, I'll add it to my wishlist. Thanks for the suggestion!

Detention is a really great psychological horror game. Kinda like the original Siilent Hill, the atmosphere and story are pretty much worth it. No cheap jumpscares, which is a win, but it has easy "puzzles", they don't screw the experience, but it's worth mentioning.

I was debating if I should buy it now or wait for another bundle.

you made me browse my library, and found -and gonna try- this:

Karaski: What Goes Up...
https://store.steampowered.com/app/424640/

as you may see not much into horror... but played (and really enjoyed the "puzzle" part) Play With Me: https://store.steampowered.com/app/725780/

not very scary, still very good imo.

Completely forgot about owning Karaski, thanks :D (Isn't it terrible how hard to remember everything, when someone wants a good game? They just get forgotten in the library until a reminder)

Games by Frictional Games studio. I played only Penumbra series, but their next games probably even better.

I'm gonna play SOMA as soon as I finish the game I'm currently playing.

I love Frictional's games. I've played the Penumbra and Amnesia games. Each game is better than the last. SOMA is their best game yet, hell it's one of my top 10 games of all times. With Amnesia (and Penumbra), I could only play in short sessions of an hour or two before I had to take a break and calm my nerves. With SOMA though, even though, the story, the way it's told and the way you experience it, I didn't want to stop.

I'm currently playing STALKER for October/Halloween. It's technically not a horror game, but it's creepy AF. I bought it at release on disk, but the first patch for the game was incompatible with existing saves. I didn't want to start over, so I played unpatched. I got about 3/4 of the way through the game when I ran into a bug that caused the game to constantly crash and I couldn't go any farther. I didn't feel like starting over, and I just never got around to re-playing it.

Darkest Dungeon base game is 70% off this sale: https://store.steampowered.com/app/262060/Darkest_Dungeon/

and seconding the Pathologic mention, that game is so so goooooood.

Bad Dream Coma is just amazing.
Bucket Detective is for 2€/$, looks like it is similar to your detective ones.

Also a reminder for many people - sale lasts until Thursday, Friday HB Monthly reveal + new Monthly games announced. Try to keep your options to refund open until the monthly :)

I have this game wishlisted for a while. I have a self-imposed rule that I only buying games with 60% discount or higher, but it's so cheap that I'll probably get this as well. Thanks for the reminder.

You can never go wrong with some Dead Space.
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/5446/Dead_Space_Collection/
I wouldnt call Downfall a good movie, but its a neat companion piece to a game that has no exposition.

Oh, yeah, that. +1 for both Dead Space and Dead Space 2.

Despite the fact it was given for free before, I thought Distraint was quite good (and short, but that is actually a plus in my book usually). The same developer did Silence of the Sleep, which was very atmospheric too. Both games are in this Fanatical bundle.

Towards the horror/mystery side, I am also really enjoying The Council, though it is episodic and it is not finished yet.

Oh yes. I played Obscure the Aftermath on the psp, which is the port of the pc title named Obscure 2 or 3, i forgot, you can find all 3 on steam, i never finished it but i enjoyed it, its realy good horror. You should also try on armorgames.com a horror game called Breach. Could also always play the The Last Stand series on armorgames aswell, they would fit halloween.
