My friends daughter is a minecraft junkie, and has Minecraft on her consoles, and wanted to get it on Steam, but I informed her that it's not on steam. Is there a game that's REALLY close to minecraft on Steam? I know there is voxelized, but that is horrible, and has the reviews to prove it.

Does it have to be on steam? You could just get the PC version and even make a shortcut to the steam launcher.

She COULD do that I think...I think for her, it's just the ease of having her downloads in one place..I'm the same way, i'm lazy like that..it's literally the only reason I haven't bought Black Desert Online.

The nice thing about Minecraft is that you just need to run its launcher executable and the game automatically handles updates and everything. Once you've added it to your game list you won't need to mess with it unless you get a new computer or do a clean install.

yea, that's what I was thinking....I may just buy her Minecraft PC edition and make her do the shortcut thing.....I'll ask her first if that's cool though <_< She might be lazy like me and want everything in one place.

Meanwhile I gave away 6K copies of Voxelized to promote the game...
I still have several hundred keys left somewhere I think.

There's CastleMiner Z, ou can craft stuff, there are zombies but guns as well...
Also there's FortressCraft Evolved!, I think it's a bit more complex as I already own it but I have no Idea how it works exactly.
Oh, and Rising World, although it's not cubic nor pixelated, but it feels the same machanics.

I actually own those.....Her mom also owns rising world too....Is that similar to minecraft? Like I said, I never played minecraft, so unsure of the similarities...I know she just likes building though.

I've played Minecraft a lot, but I didn't play Rising World that much (as it is in early access and stuff) but as far as I played it looks like an evolved Minecraft, you can have an ideia of how close it is to Minecraft by the begginer's guide, but then again... Early access.

Try 7 Days to Die, not really a clone, though it's an amazing game worth giving a try.

There are a few similar games on Steam like the aforementioned Fortresscraft, Block Story, which use Minecraft's gameplay as a template but build off of it in some way. While they stand on their own as good/decent games, trying to use them as a substitute for Minecraft may lead to disappointment. It'd be like giving a Pokemon fanatic a Digimon game. They would only be fooled if they were very young.

Multi-player plays a big part in Minecraft for many people, and in that respect nothing even comes close to the size of the playerbase, the amount of servers with custom game modes. She'd never be able to play with friends. Some people play Minecraft and neither mine nor craft, but play Hunger Games and other custom game modes online basically treating it like GMod.

I don't know this game, I think it is more of an action game.

There's Alchemist's Awakening, it's in early access and it's not 100% like Minecraft but I played like 15 hours of it before getting bored, that's rare for me.
