Gets a little annoying double checking all the time, and would save time and wasted entries for games i already own.

edit: Looks like the most common answer is using PlayNite.

  1. Have it list what games i have on other platforms.
  2. Use ESGST to flag all ignored games,
  3. Slowly work on flagging Steam games as "ignore" if they're on the list, and whenever i add one on another platform.

I just use the GOG Galaxy client with all the integrations set up properly, that way I can check if I own the game anywhere and not waste entries like that

Was it a smooth process? I've been tempted to try it, but I'd have to hook up gog, steam, epic, and amazon which starts to sound like real work. Oh, and indie gala, if supported?

It depends on your pc, but if you dont waste time reading all the stuff its like a 1 minute ordeal. its like 3 clicks per integration if youre logged in your browser, more if you need to login.

nice! gotta get around to trying this. I hate the epic website and app, such a usability fail, but I'm addicted to the free weekly games. I've even played like 2-5% of them.

It's really not that bad! Some integrations are easier to setup because the Galaxy client already comes with them built-in while a few others you have to set up yourself using community plugins, but it really helps out a lot with not spending points unnecessarily.

Also I hide the games on SG I already own so their giveaways no longer appear, that helps out too!

I misuse Steam shop's "not interested (played on another platform)" button.

Looks like it's the most common suggestion.

Never used it either, so it'll be interesting to see what everyone finds appealing about it.

Good question, following

I track everything I own across all platforms with Playnite (I never launch stuff with it; just use it as a catalog). Then I can search there before entering giveaways.

ESGST has categories where you can set up your own categories . i use this to add tags to games i already own on GOG/EPIC or do the opposite by tagging games im interested in without wishlisting everything. but you need to go through every game induvidually

I've just done that because I don't feel like setting up more plugins

I export the Steam IDs of all the games that I own on other platforms to a text file from Playnite. I then use that list to mass ignore/hide those games on Steam and SG using this userscript and ESGST.

It's a pretty convoluted process, but I only have to do it once every 1-2 months.

That's really neat, my process is less sophisticated but I might try to incorporate parts of yours into mine

I wrote my own Powershell script for Playnite to write each game's Steam ID into a text file. If you'd like to try it, just let me know.

I mass hide here using ESGST's Hidden Games Manager tool (setting 3.32). I just select "Add all ignored games" in that tool's options.

I have no idea why the other script has 0 downloads. Maybe there was a version update and it reset the download counter? I found it thanks to this comment on SG.

but what about mass hide games here not from steam but directly from txt file? is there an option for that in ESGST?

Yeah you can do that in ESGST too. Just paste a list of the steam store urls for any games you want to hide in the same window shown in my last screenshot.

Sharing my process - I have everything on Playnite. The first time I synced all my libraries there, I made a filter to show every game except the Steam ones. Then I ended up going one by one to their Steam page and ignoring them there.

ESGST has an option to hide "Ignored" games on SG. I also set ESGST to add a red flag / tag for Ignored games, so in case I'm navigating a train and see it there, the red tag reminds me I shouldn't join. In these cases I also manualy hide it here on SG

The first time setting this thing up will consume a lot of time, since I assume you have many games on EGS and GOG you want to manually Ignore on Steam. But once the setup is done, the only thing you need to remember is to manually Ignore on Steam new games you might get on another store. It's easy to maintain once you've set it up

Nice!
This sounds like a great use of ESGST.

Never used Playnite, so i'll check it out as a good way to export a list to work on.
Thx! o/

If I ever get to the point where this becomes an issue I'd probably reconsider some of my hoarding habits 😅

Well avoiding greedy hoarding is the reason i want to avoid having the same game on multiple platforms, and taking away a game from someone who doesnt have it at all.

I do have an Excel file where I keep track of all the games I won, but, yeah, it was built sloooooowly over decades (quite literally, I started it in 2005).

Since I guess you do not want to wait 20 years to have that list ready.... yeah, Playnite is a GREAT option to organize everything.

Cheers!
