In the Fantasy Kingdom today is a festive day: King Winthorp and Queen Yunie are giving a masquerade and all the kingdom can join.
As soon as you reach the Palace, you are greeted by guards in sparkling armors and colorful jesters.
In the main hall noble knights head their ladies in graceful dances.
The room shines with green and red, the colors of the crown.
Domestics in livery approaches you to offer delicacies from golden tray.
The king and the queen overlook the hall from their thrones.
Scream and laughter of joy, mixed to the mellow music of the flutes run over the guests like a wave.
Moved by the shared euphoria you start your search for a partner for the next ball, when suddenly the room gets struck by a chill.
The chief of the guards makes his entrance bringing grim news:
A member of the domestics has been found dead in one of the guest rooms.
The victim lays on the ground supine on the door, with the lower half of the body inside the room and the other half in the hallway. She has a blade wound starting from the left side of the neck to the collarbone.
Except the wound there is no interesting note, she is dressed like always for work. The only strange thing is a golden ring with an unicorn emblem on her hand.
The room where she was found is the one of Lord Von Potato and his wife Lady BARBIE von Potato: It's all messy, all the valuables are gone and in the corner there is a table with a meal for two. On the tray there are two chalice, a wine bottle, bread and cheese; the knife is missing.
At the end of the hallway there was a fainted guard, hit to the head.
After a careful investigation of the evidence the chief of the guards brought five suspects in front of the King and the Queen.
Mark: Once an adventurer, Mark quitted when he was shot by an arrow to a leg and became a guard. He was the one that found the body and gave the alarm.
Chief note: He wasn't on duty on the floor where he found the victim; Rumors says that he speak out against the victim accusing her to be a thief since se was wearing a precious ring.
Fun fact: He was praised from the King to have unmasked a squire that was stealing weapons from the armory
Emily: Once a personal maid of a Lady, she got moved to the kitchen; More hands where needed after the victim moved from kitchen's servant to maid of the guest rooms. Emily is the person in charge to bring the trays from the kitchen to the guest rooms.
Chief note: It looks like she hold a grudge toward the victim because she was moved to the kitchen after her promotion and she even hurt herself in the first days of work, she has a bandaged right arm.
Fun Fact: She obtained her previous work as maid by covering of lies her rival
The Bad Sewer Rat: A famous pickpocketer, he was caught while he was running away; in his bag there was the valuables from the Von Potato's room.
Chief note: Among his tools there are a knife and a blackjack baton.
Fun fact: He once knocked out ten guards alone without being spotted in an heist
Lord Von Potato: A warlord famous for the battle of the 3 Swines against the Candyland's Kingdom, that surrender to his powerful army. To seal the truce the king of Candyland gave her daughter BARBIE in spouse. He is famous for being a big gambler but not a good player.
Chief Note: It's well known that he had an affair with the victim, which was asking him money.
Fun fact: In a gentleman duel he killed his opponent with a single sword strike
Lady BARBIE Von Potato: Daughter of King Cong and Queen Ann, she was gave in marriage to Von Potato to seal the truce. She still wear proudly the unicorn, emblem of Candyland, on his dresses.
Chief note: She already knew the affair of the husband.
Fun fact: She punched a servant because she started to clean her jewel without her permission
After a long pondering, the chief bows in front of the two sovereigns and says:
"Your Majesty, I know who is the culprit!"
What does our crowd think? Who is the culprit?
Tell us in the comments; to not spoil the game
don't post your thoughts but only the name of the suspect.
