So I'm looking for a reasonably sized gifting/giveaway group to join. I have a couple of games I wanna give away but would rather they didn't go to the "OMG gief me free games plox" brigade. Would also like to be in a group where I have a slightly better chance at winning but mainly just want my games to go to people who will appreciate them more. Sorry if that makes me seem like an ass.

You haven't given yourself anything. Yet.

And I fully intend to rectify that shortly. As stated in my original post, I have a couple of games I wanna raffle off, I also have a handfull of coupons I have no intention of using and want to give to people who will make use of them rather than just use as trading leverage items.

Can't trade your wins on here anyway, so that's a null point.

If you mean the copy of Garshasp I won on here it's not something I intend to offer out

Nah, I was saying that offering giveaways publicly is not adding "fodder for trading" because they cannot be traded. Well, no more than once because that first time results in a banhammer slamdown.

@Kove - I suppose in some respects you may be right but on the other hand part of me just thinks "yeah, they appreciate it that much they can't even be bothered to comment and say thanks"

@Ryan26 - That's the kind of group I'm looking for, an actual community. I'm on steam all the time due to being house-bound (personal reasons). I'd be loking to giveaway spare copies where I've bought multi-packs for myself and a friend or two who may not be on that regularly so it's nice to have others to play the games with. Do you have any details you could give me such as group size, joining requirements or how you deal with leechers?

Still happy to hear from other groups too!!!

Sadly I don't meet your requirements but I do admire the integrity in them

We don't have requirments except for being in the chat and making a raffle once in a while.

It's $100 in games gifted, not in games you own

That's the requirement I can't meet sadly.

How about doing a puzzle giveaway?
I really enjoy those, and people having 'worked' for it will surely appreciate the giveaway - and after you've done some giveaways you'll then be able to join /v/afflers etc

try this one, has low requirements (you just have to giveaway 1 game when you enter and then 1 game per month) http://steamcommunity.com/groups/sgifters

I would suggest you to NEVER join that group. There is no community at all. Not exactly the group you want to be looking for. besides they have a rule where you MUST giveaway ever month or so to stay in, and it suits the description ""OMG gief me free games plox" brigade" very well.

However, if you are active enough, you might get an invite from S.chatters.hinting to everyone else

The group name is ripped off anyway and the 7th rule borders a bit on being controversial. Similar to boosting and that is generally enough for a ban if caught under certain circumstances.

How active are you at chatting?

At the moment only usualy on an evening, but that's just because my friends work during the day and are only on few a few hours each night, as I said earlier I don't work (aprt from some voluntary moderating for a local charity forum on Fri-Sun and even then I'm usualy still gaming/browsing the web etc anyway).

I'm also a MMO player (not WoW shudders) away from steam and involved in a sizeable kinship. When online there I'm always one of the more active chatters so I suppose the general rule of thumb is if I'm online I'm always looking to pass time and shoot the breeze with others.

A lot of groups are, in the end a bunch of beggars, and i've seen very few ones that are run on a tight and nice community, personally i'm in Steam Gifts Lowered Expectations, the most peculiar requirement (and obvious considering its theme) is that, if you do a giveaway for the group, the game must not require more than a single core processor. I found the group there to be really friendly and i like to be in the chat from time to time :D

This sounds like an interesting requirement, but also a sensible one as many people (including myslef) use "outdated" hardware still. But does that not limit the choice of giveaways? Recently I feel even the simplest of games frequently require having super-duper graphics card, dual core processor etc.
