My message notification gets so full of "thanks" every time I create a few giveaways.

Honestly, if your comment is nothing other than "thanks", I'd rather you don't comment at all.

UPDATE: LOL now my message notification is full of "thanks" in the discussion forum as well. Well played, internet. Well played.

The real gratitude shows when the giveaway winner is taking his/her time to press the damn "received" button.

I love this quote, so I added to the top. Commented by RammPatricia

UPDATE: I actually included the "please do not thanks" in my GA description, people are finally slowly getting it. I wonder was it the power of this thread? Now I do not get 99+ notifications a day now (still I get like 50+).

i dont think its reasonable for you to speak for everyone simply because you dont like something. just ask people on your giveaways kindly not to say thank you...

but for other people, they like the 'thanks'. it may feel preprogrammed and insincere, but at the very least it does demonstrate the persons willingness to at least ACKNOWLEDGE that another person is on the other end of hte giveaway, unlike the vast majority of people who use this site that think giveaways come out of thin air.. or worse, that they're a 'right' and not a kind gesture by someone..

What else would you like to see, beside thanks ?

The suggestion is to choose where you receive reply notifications from. Like Steam has a "subscribe to" (threads/forum sections) he'd like to see the option to unsubscribe from such notifications. Saying "don't comment with a thanks" wasn't the proper way to go about it though.

If that can't be added to the system, then I would advise you to just put it in your description and blacklist anyone that does it anyway. Then you shouldn't have to worry about it again. ^^

I stopped doing this long time ago. There is pretty much no point to throwing out "thanks" left and right - you can thanks the GA creater once you will win. And as for me I dont care about comments to my GA's at all or even bother reading them - I create them to share a game that sm1 can win, not to get lots of comments that I can read...

I understand how the op feels but it is a tad silly to complain about it. Though I do like it when they say ty after they have won one of my giveaways :D.

To say "thanks you" later is nice, to spam before is just stupid.

By saying "we" you put yourself within people you are criticizing.

(Didn't read all posts here) but my opinion is:

  • I've only posted "Thanks for the key" in the last two giveaways I've won.
  • Wrong behaviours (To not say something else) are extremly contagious. People still doing it in this thread thinking that's funny.
  • I have never seen a spammed forum like this one. People start discussions about anything: "What clothes should I wear !?".. "Was my ex-girlfriend sweet ?".. "Phone is ringing, should I answer ?".. "I'm hearing a weird sound in my computer, is it a cricket ??"

I personally post short time frame contests, fewer comments, and better chances to win for those who enter. I don't even get the poine of having week or more long contests lol

I'd love to see the comments in the contests just removed, they serve no purpose, if you want thanks, make a forum post about it, most people don't want thanks anyway.

I like to open the giveaways and say thanks to the creators... if you are bothered by it, I think you should put something in the description to prevent users from doing it.

I always try to respect the wishes of the GA creator ;)
