I'm at ~12k with few months to 3 years.
And it will increase quite slowly as I'm not only entering for stuff I want unlike in ye olden days.

Just curious, how many of those giveaways were for games you actually wanted to play? :)

There's nothing wrong with entering GAs for games that you don't really want to play - maybe they drop cards which you can sell for funds to buy a game you do want to play, maybe they're a game a family member wants to play (on your account), maybe you want to try it, maybe you just want to have a god-awful game in your account to torture your friends...nothing wrong with any of those motivations in my opinion. I think the problem is when people take, take, take just for the sake of hoarding and don't give anything back.

Well, I'm not the giveaway police... :)

But I've heard that some crazy people enter a giveaway because they actually want to play that game. :) When a person who doesn't want to play wins instead, it's a bit disappointing. :)

So when you give away one of your favourite games, try not to check what the winner does with it... :)

No worries, just sharing my opinion because I hear that kind of sentiment on here a good bit. If I'm giving something away that I really want to share my appreciation for and I care that the person receiving it really wants to play it, I'd put a note to that effect in my GA, and then yes, I would expect people entering to honor that, as I do when I see that kind of thing. Otherwise, I think it's all fair game.

In reality, probably well over 75% of the GAs on here by volume of copies are for the same cheap games over and over and the person giving them away could care less what anyone does with them - they just want publicity for some other purpose.

The best games that a lot of people want have so many entries that your chances of winning are miniscule, so I don't usually bother and tend to enter a lot of niche game GAs with fewer entries - games I don't really know if I want to play or not, but I'm curious about and willing to give a chance.

Also, for me personally, my family members all have different tastes, so usually one of us will enjoy just about anything that's at least half-way decent.

Anyways, sorry for the rant - your post was pretty benign. It just bothers me when people go off on this topic without considering all of the possible circumstances.

going back to sleep now :)

Definition of right and wrong is based on certainpoint of view.

I like to make GAs to give games to random people who can't afford them. I know how happy I am when I win game in which I wanted to play or when I have enought money to buy it. And bonus point when my GA will bring smile on face of someone depressed, anxious, with hard family situation and so on.

So yeah, I think when "I -enter-to-idle-cards-don't-interested-in-playing-game" someone win my GA - it's wasted GA for me. I didn't buy this bundle / game on steam to give someone chance to idle cards for 0,2€ (which is even more ridiculous if someone lives in western europe etc where you easily earn 8 - 10€ per hour). Plus I'd have to win 25 games and idle cards from them to buy one game on steam worth 5€. So it's useless.

Absolutely, it's based on perspective...that was kind of my point. For your stated objective, you should offer your GAs under a discussion to that effect as others have done, or put a note in the GAs, or create a group or whitelist, etc. Of course, you know that the leechers are going to enter blindly anyways or pretend to meet your criteria, but the rest of us that actually care about your intentions for the GA and don't fit your criteria wouldn't enter, at least keeping the entries lower for those that do.

Also, maybe it's because I'm still new here, but I get a big smile on my face every time I win anything. Yes, everything I've won so far was actually a good game, but I'd even be excited to win Bad Ratz, and I'd play it, too, just because. :) Yes, I can afford to spend some money on games, and do, but as long as my ratio is good I'm multiplying the joy even when I win, right? I win once, 2+ people win my GAs.

Am I still ranting? sigh

Nope in my opinion you're not ranting :D We've got just other points of view.

And yeah, making special group would be a solution (when custom rules on GAs are no longer valid), but I don't have enought time now to maintain it :D

Also you won 7 games in 2 weeks. I won my first GA (with 7 entries xD) after 2 weeks. So you're pretty lucky :D (Praise to Karma God \o/)

It's a lot compared to me but I don't know about overall.

I'm on 4823 in 2 years, so about 2400 a year compared to your 8333 per year.
