Guess you didn't read the "skip this thread" part. Not defending the game, I agree it could've been better, but it's not a thread about hearing over and over the same complaining.

Hyped as fuck, only a sack of potatoes can consider Diablo 3 a bad game.

Lacking? Maybe. But bad? Oh boy, can people be any farther from the truth.

When you take 11 years to create the new version of a legend, people expect it to be just perfect :)

Yup, it was a rough road, but I honestly can say that neither Blizzard North, nor David Brevik would have done better. (And in fact they didn't, if we look at Torchlight 2 or Marvel Heroes. - I played Torchlight 2, nice game, but not Diablo 3 nice, and Marvel Heroes is just... lel.)

People always tell me Torchlight 2 is better then Diablo III. I've beaten Diablo III numerous times. I haven't gotten through half of Torchlight 2.

Well, i've beaten Torchlight 2 various times and made it to max level while playing Diablo 3 only 1 time and the second approach already bored me :P

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, if you take into account that Torchlight 2 had a much smaller budget and was developed by a small indie studie in about 2 years, i do think David Brevik had done better, by far

I got Torchlight for my fix of this type of game honestly.

Aren't the Torchlight guys the ones who made D2 anyways?

I think. But honestly I liked Diablo 3 much more (Hell, it's the game I have spend the most hours ever, around 200), shame so many people hate on the game without even trying.

EDIT: Liked it much more than Torchlight not Diablo 2.

I tried it, felt like a giant step back for the genre honestly, well when compared to games like Path Of Exile and Torchlight 2, well even Diablo 2.

Idk didn't hit me right, couldn't get into it, felt like I was going through the motions, not a good feeling.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you can, I'd recommend to try it again, as there were ton of changes since the launch day. Yeah, the feel might be a little different from the traditional game of that gender, but nonetheless I loved the game for what it was, and not for what genre it was. Reminds abit Hitman Absolution, as a Hitman game it was complete absolute disastrous fail, but as a game it was really really great.

That's what they say about every ARPG nowadays.

Torchlight: OMG The guys who made Diablo! (Two of them, the Schaefer brothers)

Hellgate: London & Marvel Heroes: OMG! OMG! THE FATHER OF DIABLO! (David Brevik, made 2 failure of a game since)

I don't see these as guarantees.

Naaaah...

I was really looking forward for D3 but it really didn't turn out to be what i was expecting.

I'm not saying it's a horrible game (let's be fair, it really isn't) but it could've been so much more than that.

At least there's still Torchlight II and Path of Exile.

Comment has been collapsed.

I won't even try D3 unless they remove the always online requirement for single player, which they don't seem to plan on doing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Is the always online DRM really the only reason you don't play the game? Is your internet down 90% of time which renders you unable to play the game? Or you seriously don't play the game because of a feature that doesn't affect in any way whatsoever?

2 concepts, hardcore mode + blizzard server lags.

Permalink

Tell me all about how they akwaays have lags.

And surprise surprise, there are people who leveled to max level with hardcore characters, I wonder what sorcery it is.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

My internet is fine, but I don't want to be in a situation where I want to play the damn game and Blizzard is doing some maintenance that prevents me from playing. Sure I could do something else during the maintenance, but I shouldn't have to, if I'm going to play the game in single player.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Honestly, single player is boring, even if you want to play alone, you need to be selling / buying from the Auction House if you want to enjoy the end game. Also, maintenance time is really minimal.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Then the game is poorly balanced, if you need to resort to buying stuff obtained by other people.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I think trading is fun and apparently a lot of people enjoy it as well.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So your solution for the 0.01% possibility (how often they do maintenance? what the chances of you playing the game right when they do maintenance? Never happened to me at least, and I have 200 on the game.) of not being able to play for an hours (if not less) is not playing the game at all? . . . wow, I don't even know the right reaction to this.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Based on my quick check on maintenances, they do them weekly on tuesdays and last 6 to 12 hours. I'd assume the servers are a bit laggy during peak hours as that was the case with World of Warcraft.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I guess I underestimated the whole maintenance thing, but I still don't see how this and abit of lag sometimes at peak hours would stop you from playing the game. I enjoyed 200 hours of the game without neither of those having any significant or even minor impact on my play-through, I really feel it's a shame to pass on such a great game just due to minor setbacks.

I really enjoyed D3, though I didn't play much after killing Diablo on inferno. Torchlight 2 didn't really scratch the itch for me, I never even beat it. Torchlight 1 was amazing, and Diablo 2 great...

I will definitely play this with a few friends when it comes out. If they make it more interesting to stay playing, than good on them. If not, whatever.

ohhhhhhh shiiiet, the trailer and the talk about loot 2.0 is kinda hooking me back. I love the idea of account bounded items.

EDIT: I'm not gonna pay for that expansion LOL. They better give it for free or I'm not going back there
EDIT 2: Just read the changelogs planned in the expansion pack, and I'm in no way paying blizzard for fixes and improvements in item drops which they had promised last year. Now they are selling patches, what a fucking joke.

$5 or less, I'll say "eh, fuck it", buy it and give D3 another chance. More than $5, and I'll just go back to the billion games I have on Steam waiting for my attention.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Why would they price the expansion to one of the best selling games ever at anywhere near $5?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

lol hell no, anyone who have played diablo 3 before since launch date should know that those improvements in loot drops SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN GAME FOR FREE and not advertised as an expansion pack. They promised loot drop changes before to be more fun, but it never happened. Now they are milking the players for $$$ for better loot drops. Another P2win mechanic.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The game has been pay to win ever since you could buy millions of gold for a couple dollars and deck yourself out in legendaries from the auction house. The loot drops change is going to get a lot of flak for appearing to be only in the expansion, and I can almost guarantee over the coming months that will be changed to be available for vanilla D3 as well.

Overall I'm excited for the expansion, and this new class seems like it's going to be the go to hardcore character for me once I lose my barbarian

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

lol no, I can grind by myself to get the loots. It is true that there is a p2w mechanic with AH/RMAH, but I can still grind my own and get the gold by myself. With this new stupid expansion, the division on players with the expansion and without it will be noticeable since the drops from loot 1.0 vs loot 2.0 is immense. You are required to buy the expansion to get better loots. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the players next year will be only those who has expansion packs.

Comment has been collapsed.

The game is not a competetive one, therefore it can't really be pay to win if you are killing AI opponents. Yes, you might not be able to farm effortlessly on Monster Power 10 right away, but who cares? No point in farming it anyway if you just buy the Best in Slot items. If anything, buying items for money only sets you back on actual goals you wanna reach.

I don't want to pay to kill the enjoyment for myself, I see no point in that.

well, I probably one of the really few people that enjoyed playing diablo 3, true its not as good as diablo 2 but its not bad, if you look at it as a action rpg then yeaa its fun, tho u cant play non-stop as it will make game boring quite quickly, will get it on consoles tho as looks much better than PC ver tho wish it would have vita version announced.

and for expansion... will wait and see what exactly will change apart from what they announced tho most likely will get it but as i said I just that kind of person who enjoy playing games and one of the very small group that enjoyed diablo 3 i think xD

but true the whiners always are lout (good example COD vs BF ^^) so ups my mistake xD

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think yes. Of course there are nice things on D3, but D2 still have more replay value than this new one. The microtransaction stuff helped a lot destroying the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

D2 had replay value? All people did was Baal runs and the occasional Uber Tristram. I don't think any Diablo game really has replay value. They're all about grinding the same locations over and over again for loot. Also, there were a lot of people who sold and bought D2 items for cash. It's a normal thing and Blizzard made a good move by making it an official part of the game, that way people can't be screwed over by a third party. It's backed by the company instead of being backed by no one. How is that a bad thing?

I enjoyed the majority of my time with Diablo III but this expansion doesn't do enough to bring me back Day One. I already have all the current classes at lv.50+ (3 maxed) so there's very little other than even more classes that would make this anything other than a wait-for-sale purchase.

Already seen it. I actually do like D3 but its one of those games that I had to take a big break from recently. I am interested in this expansion though.. might end up getting me into it again.

I am curious as to what they are adding for the Paragon levels since I noticed something new for that in a screenshot, but have not looked into it any more than that.

I don't hate Diablo III but this expansion is somewhat pulled out of nowhere in terms of a plot. Expanding universe in this way is a fail. I anyway won't give my final opinion until all info is revealed. But this reaper of souls seems relevant to Diablo universe no more than pandaria to WoW.

Yea.. To be honest I thought they where going to go with Greed ( the Demon ) since it was mentioned a few times in D3 and it could have easily fit. Or Baal coming back into the picture.

Who knows though, either one could still be in the expansion. That or they could be saving those for another one.. shrug
