Don't think that will work. Maybe use Bluetooth on the PC and connect wireless.

It might be turned off via a hardware switch. Either an actual switch or Fn key.

It's also one of the settings that is inaccessible in some unactivated copies of Windows.

if you broken the cable at the port usb if you cut the cable and wire the wires in another usb cable then you fix the problem without buy anithing and not need glue or solder or anithing search on a search engine "merge 2 usb cable".

Agreed - I would just repair or replace the cable and solder in a new one... and maybe stiffen or build up the junction to the controller and plug ends with Sugru.

Kind of like this or this.

Alternatively you can pickup a kit like this that holds a loose cable in place... never used it, but it might work.

It's broken not the cable USB but the port usb on gamepad near the Xbox symbol.

If you're decent with a soldering iron or know someone who is... replacing the port might work with a spare part.

There is no limit in repair or electronics at this level example conversion of controller to arcade + battery and wifi
or lcd touch screen fan controller on xbox360 all can be done... the only limit is imagination , the problem is you must find someone really honest that you can trust and better you check feedback from people that already do repair from him, then if you find this who will repair for you so easy and cheap, better if you do same C0S search info and learn repair by yourself.
C0S is right about the parts prices is around that
it is important also that before that you give your hardware to someone you write in a paper and make photo about the serials or models that is in the printed circuit board (better if the numbers not in the stickers, because stickers can easy be removed) i can tell you this because i win anti-fraud in my country after 10 years of service for fight it about repair ( i still have many 100% good feedback for 10 years https://www.facebook.com/ITA360COM/posts_to_page/ and i win lawsuits vs microsoft\sony\nintendo too recently and in the past too).

Sadly after my dad died i not feel good, very sad,so i stop work long months ago coz this,if not i help u,but i sure you can find someone fix for you at easy and cheap.
