They included the "previous" addons close to a new release the last few times. So I'll guess like somewhere around June / July.

let me ask a wow question please. i have somewhere an old wow battlechest, from like 5y ago, that i never activated and used. is it worth anything these days? I'm pretty sure i won't ever give it any use.

sorry op for using your thread, i can't answer myself to your original question.

battle chests get upgraded when new battle chest comes out, so your battlechest will include all expansions up to latest one included in BC no matter when you purchased it ;) So it's worth as much as any other BC round there - but best wait b4 new BC gets released prior to new expansion, as price will increase when Legion gets added ;)

It depends I guess. When Cata was released I had to purchase each expansion separately. If I remember correctly Classic cost me 5 USD + TBC: 5 USD + WotLK: 10 USD + Cata: 20 USD... I think there was a promo at the time for new players so prices were low for me, so everything cost me like 40 USD

You mix up different things ;) BattleChests are for new users only, they are Starter Editions, that;s why they offer lower price compared to buying expansions for your old account ;) And thus they are designed in a way to make this new user pay for next expansion, if they contained only old expansions it wouldn't work if person activating it would have to buy X expansions prior to getting newest one. Someone already having account, characters, items etc and some expansions is more likely to buy additional stuff, for newcomer you gotta offer more to keep them, later on you will milk them ;)

I used BattleChests quite a lot myself, at the end of WotLK when Cata got announced I set up a bot farm farming herbs and ore in WotLK as prices were high cause people wanted to farm all profs b4 next expansion, and I was buying cheap Burning Crusade BattleChests for few bucks, which before Cataclysm launch and introduction of new BattleChest all gave not only Burning Crusade but Wraith of the Lich King as well ;) I boted on these accounts and cashed out before finally quitting WoW during Cata ;)

As of right now you get Legion for free if you pre-purchase Battle for Azeroth. If you already have a WoW account the upgrade costs 50 USD (first image), and for a brand new account it costs 60 USD (second image). Source: I verified this from my personal (inactive) WoW.
