So I saw that people were asking in this thread about what happened to the greenlight campaign offers. So I emailed the developer because the game was supposed to be free, but is on Steam at a price, and as far as I know nobody received anything for voting. Well here is what he said:

Dear reader,

When we were on Greenlight I promised the game to be free to play (So there was no giving away Steam keys in the first place) if we get greenlight. Sadly we never got greenlight and had to find a publisher. When we talked to the publisher we quickly found out that giving the game away for free would be something that the publisher didn't want to, because they invest alot of money in the game. That's the reason we're now asking money for the game.

People that entered the closed beta still will get the exclusive DLC. This DLC is not available from day 1 because we want a DLC that really give value to the beta testers.

For more information please contact me again.

Best wishes,
Jos Savelberg

What about base game itself? We get the DLC but still have to buy the base game eventhough we have it on Desura? Would You be that kind and ask dev about it?:P If so, thanks in advance!

The Greenlight push failed and the publishers who then got them through want their money back. Can't really complain, there wasn't enough votes even with that for it to be a free game like planned.

That might be the reason :P

Don't underestimate power of free copy of game, +1 and steam cards.

There was never technically a free copy. The original plans was the game would be free to play, the DLC would make cash from paying users.

Yes, but if game was going to be paid & voters get free copy, it could've made it faster.

Maybe, but that hadn't been their plan. Some people do want to release their games free.

can't say i was surprised...I think it's still a bit disappointing that he only released news as to what was going on after someone asked about it

Oh well, time to see if indie gala will have a happy hour on that bundle

Dating Sims get greenlit. If his shit couldn't get greenlit, it must be REALLY bad.

eh I didn't see much of a push here unlike some other games. Not to mention it takes some things time to get greenlit especially when they lack exceptionally vocal fanbases.

And these days developers are considering publishers instead of greenlight due to how some may get stuck waiting. Ultimately unless you have a proven fanbase from elsewhere, Greenlight may be a long haul thing.

That and the indie market has become to a degree survival of fittest, where mainly the best thrive. So far for this it's off to a rough start, Early Access (an increasing maligned level) and a story about failed kickstarters. Not blaming the developer as the list of things to do/not do with Kickstarters/Greenlight isn't written down in a good place.

Hilarious how the Publisher tries to defend their ea money grubbing "scheme" in user reviews for this "awesome" game : 1 and 2
