i got star trek online running on a gpu below minimum spec, admittedly their were graphical well not issues but it was ugly but still it ran, i consider system requirements a rough guide, minimum cpu might be a bit lower if say GPU is decent and can take some of the load off

That's all down to how the dev. chooses to implement hardware checks. Some games will simply not run, period, on PCs with CPU's with too little physical cores / threads.

truedat
Although one hard line they always draw is Pixel Shader versions, usually.

Wait I just realised how dumb that was to say.. Of course that's a hard limit - it's a minimal requirement of a GPU by a game engine.. And we were talking more about arbitrary lines drawn by devs :P

Can I be able to run it? it says I can't with my GFX. It's NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M 2GB

You could be able to run it. The difference is how well you will be able to. With a weaker card like GT 635M, you won't probably be able to push your settings to above low-medium. Perhaps with a little tweaking you can get a bit of headroom out of the game

oh darn i just got a i5 4670k and i cant run this game on recommended. (LOL)

Not at all. All software has to be specifically programmed to utilize Intels proprietary technology.
Although an old article, it explains how HP works. Non hp programmed software can actually underperform on HP enabled CPU's. http://www.anandtech.com/show/868

It is a passive technology. It makes programs believe the CPU has twice the cores (when in fact most of the hardware in each pair of these "virtual" cores is shared). The OS needs to know this info and differentiate between real cores and HT to make good use of it (a task that requires 2 cores, for example, should run on 2 completely different cores, not on the same pair of HT threads). If a program uses more threads than the CPU number of cores (which until now is rare in games) then HT kicks in.

Just because task manager shows twice the amount of cores the cpu actually has, does not mean HP works like extra cores. Read my link posted above. Unless HP has been drastically changed and has dedicated processing power to control it, I cannot see how it in any way could be passive.

5-30% performance increase is still possible. And next-gen games are written to use more threads which HT does answer.
Can increase performance for any multi-threaded code. How much depends on what sort of instructions code uses. It only needs multi-threaded code and if they require multiple cores I believe they use multi-threading...

It just depends on so many parameters. This link is updated to i7 HP and explains even more indepth. It seems HP can do some HP passively, but any software optimized properly will not benefit much. http://www.overclock.net/a/hyperthreading-explained
There really isn't much benefit to choosing a lowend i7 compared to a highend i5.

It doesn't work like extra cores, it just makes the OS believe there are extra cores (the're certain parts of each real core duplicated so a single core can execute 2 threads at the same time in certain cases (for example, if one thread is doing an FPU operation and the other an integer one)).
I'm a programmer myself and know what HT exactly is. HT is 100% controlled by the CPU/OS, it's not something an application can "use".

also got a gtx 770 4gb version for my triple monitors setup so im good in that part lol.

Seriously? I ran it on Ultra with 30+fps with a Q6000 and a 460...
You kidding right?
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't tell if you're bragging, when I say 30+ I mean it doesn't hit lower, it easily went into 60's at times, but never went under 30 when everything around was exploding.
30+ is perfect for me, I never really notice much above it personally :-P.
Of course you get higher FPS, you have 2 7870's lmao.

It wasn't very apparent in your first post is all, sounded like you meant it with the sad face and all....lol.

That's barely better than a 670. The 770 is just a rebranded 680.
And the extra VRAM is unnecessary unless you're gaming at like 1440p.

the problem being getting a measure of performance everyone that makes CPU agrees on, you would think that windows experience thingy in windows 7 would be useful for this sorta thing but honestly i ran it once when i got this machine and ignored it :)

What's the source of this info? Every site I've found has different requirements.

A convenient nearby rectum. It's just scaremongering IMO. People will have a little rant about it and then either get over it or simply not buy the game.
You don't see Playstation 2 owners bitching that they won't be able to run PS4 titles. This is hardly any different.

I'm not talking about if I can run it or not. I'm just wondering if it's legit.

Wow game that can take advantage of my "twelve core" processor! :D
but my GPU is barely above minimun :(
AMD/Nvidia, please bring some Watch Dogs + GPU bundles!

Ubisoft has been willing to lie when it came to the PC market before. Like their repeated claims to have PC releases match the console release dates, which has just as repeatedly been broken.
And speaking of release dates, the PS4 version of Watch Dogs allegedly is coming out the week before others (including PC).

I just love when publishers cut little pieces off a game, here and there, to sell as either pre-order bonuses or stuff into the various "special" versions they'll be selling.
And the best thing is how they're marketing these extra pieces of content... 15 additional minutes of gameplay! WOO-FUCKING-HOO!

The extra mission rewards also seem to make the game easier. Just look at all those boosts.
Comment has been collapsed.
The increase in CPU core requirements is probably due to PS4 and Xbone having 8 cores.

On another topic, Here's a piece of the map I photoshopped to make it readable
edit : merci de me créditer, Alguay, si tu cherches encore des trucs à piquer pour alimenter WatchDogs-france
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha, yeah, but that's just a piece of the map... And, we've known for a long time that we shouldn't expect a tremendously giant map but rather one filled with contents.
I hope...

Quite glad to see they REQUIRE a 64bit OS and even pushing for 8core CPUs. It'd be nice to see how it runs on my pc.

So I read up on my I7-3770 and it has hyperthreading (4 actual cores, 8 visible ones), does that mean I meat max requirements?
