Do you shoot RAW?
Thanks for the heads up. I might start to use RAW again.

Is there a Mac version and does the license work for that one also?
Asking for my sister, as that's what she has, although maybe she already has a version of it.
Edit: Answering myself, I see in "Check here the list of cameras supported" that it mentions working in MAC OSX

Thanks for sharing this deal. I haven't bothered with DxO OpticsPro in a while, but this offer is too good to pass up.
While on this topic, have you tried Nik Collection by any chance? Google acquired the original company and is now giving it away for free (used to cost $500). I recommend you give the tools a try if you haven't already, there's some very good stuff in there. I'm pretty happy with the results of Nik's Dfine for noise reduction compared to plain old PS or Lightroom, as I like the more natural looking "film-like" look, but I'll definitely check out the DxO's PRIME NR.
There's also a noise reduction comparison of the most widely used tools here that I found interesting.

I just installed DxO and fired it up only to discover that my main camera isn't supported (Sony A6300 which I bought last year). I thought they would provide the updated modules for it, but doesn't seem so

Yes, this version supports most cameras released until mid-2014. For newer cameras you need to either buy a newer version or wait for it to be featured on a similar promotion. They did the same with v7 and v8, so they probably will with later versions, but it will take at least one more year.

Awesome post. Too bad my current camera is not supported. Same problem with the version of Lightroom that I have.

You can use free software too, http://www.rawtherapee.com/ :-)
Thanks for sharing knowledge about raw mode !
I knew it but never used it. No cam for that, and I wouldn't care I think, unless I want to publish photo, printable in poster size.
Learning proper real lightning is probably a must for most of people though, before advanced post-processing.
And color curves are already doing great jobs for post-processing jpg.

I use RawTherapee with RAW files from cameras that aren't supported by DxO, and it's indeed very good (aside from noise reduction, where there's a very big gap). One problem though is that they added so many features over the years, that the interface seriously suffers from it. I also think their user forum is much less useful than the old one.
I don't think that one has to learn about lighting to be able benefit from shooting RAW. Like many aspects of photography, you can learn things in parallel.
As for RAW in general, the main benefits I find over JPEG are not related to curves (where btw RawTherapee is better than even DxO 11), but more to detail preserving noise reduction, artifact free sharpening, highlight recovery, white balance after fact, and of course that everything is reversible and that you can benefit from better software algorithms years after you take the pictures.

Yes, I know for reading some tech related forums in the past, that DxO is very popular for general improving of photos, so it is a great opportunity to get it now. Apparently this free version won't get future updates.
Thanks for sharing difference about RawTherapy. I had tried UFRAW in the past (on windows) but couldn't get it work )for Nikon raw files if I recall).
I hope general photo cam on mobile will improve in future, eventually with raw support at one point. Because, apart for experimentation or eventual pro usage, I don't like to carry heavy photo equipment.

If you're serious about photography and shoot RAW, you absolutely have to get this promo. I'm using DxO OpticsPro since v7 and have upgraded every couple of versions (using the current v11 now), and I can tell you that v9 for free is an amazingly good deal. This version introduced a noise-reduction feature called PRIME NR, which in my opinion is still unmatched by any other software till this day. They since improved the performance of this feature significantly, but since you can batch process it over the night performance is not something I would worry about. Did I mention it's free? When you need serious noise reduction, there's just nothing else out there that beats it. Just be ready for several minutes processing per-image when you enable this option. The software also comes with a more traditional (and still very effective) noise reduction option that's much quicker and more suitable for images that aren't exceptionally noisy.
Everything else about the quality of images this software delivers is first rate, so don't hesitate and grab this deal while it's available.
Note: This version supports most cameras released until mid-2014 (check this PDF to see if your camera is supported) . For newer cameras you need to either buy a newer version or wait for it to be featured on a similar promotion (which will probably take another year, looking at previous promotions by DxO).
