Yes, you can have multiple copies of a card even after you used that type of card to craft a badge.

You casually have thirty thousand cards. Because it is a nice, small, casual amount. For casual levelling. Casually.

How many cards did you have when you casually levelled up last time? 40k?

On the last part, we agree upon. The only thing left on this site I actually want to achieve is winning a Barbie™ game from you. For Barbie™!

I'm pretty sure it's doable, as people with level 5 or foil badges still can get booster drops ( = cards) for the games. Having level 5 badge won't close down your inventory for those cards :)

Everytime you get a card there's a tiny chance you get a foil card instead or you could purchase them from the Community market / trade for them.

Whenever a random card spawn happens either through game drop of opening a booster, you have a flat 1% chance for any given card to be a foil. My record was opening a booster for two foil cards. (In a game where zero foils were on the market, which, ironically, made them worthless.)

You can use them to make a special foil badge for a game. Usually it has the best-looking badge. The foil badge acts like an independent set that only has one level, but it drops the same emotes and backgrounds, with no boost in rare drops in them. Assuming Steam works as intended, you can see an example on how they look like here:

Yes. This is why you can see people sometimes refer to this as 5+1 levels for a game. The +1 means a separate foil badge.

There is absolutely no limit, as Lugum said. I have seen large-scale card-trading bot accounts hold more than 100 levels of worth of card sets for the same game (CS:GO).
