Hi, I was just wondering how to create a giveaway. Do you have to have the game that you select? How does it work? Do you select a game and then you purchase it? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Begging, joking or not, is grounds for suspension.

I love it when the admins post a reply to the guy saying something like "Suspended", "Hammer Time", "Hasta la vista, baby" or "Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore", like banning somebody is the greatest achievement of their lives.

I don't think that they do it for a power trip. I think they do it to show everyone else how not to act. The guy broke a rule and was made an example.

Yeah...you make an example of somebody...the first time :|
What would it be like if whenever somebody went to jail for common stuff(just like in our case here) the police would make a press conference bragging about how they caught a...shop lifter and how he is going to jail and everything.
My point is that this is nothing out of the ordinary...everybody is used with this kind of rules breaking so they don't have to highlight it every time.

Where is the bragging? Where is the grandstanding? Where is the triumph? Perhaps you would feel that way and therefore assume that others feel the same? If so, then you are the exception rather than the rule.

I, for one, see nothing of that in Bobo's post ("Suspended.") or his quote of the rules.

There are new users all the time who don't read the rules. This helps make them aware the rules exist and we do care about them.

Power tripping? Please. I wish I didn't have to suspend people all the time. Make my life a lot easier.

You have to either have the game you're giving away in your inventory, or have an activiation code or humble bundle link for it, you can wait to buy it after the giveaway ends but you risk the price going back up if you do.

You must receive it somehow, maybe steal it or hack someone's account, doesn't matter. Then you creating giveaway and after all, you should send the code to the winner

Well lol hacking and stuff is out of the question, but when I buy a game on the steam store, isnt there an option to buy as a gift, where u get a code or something?

If you want to buy it through steam, just select the "this is a gift" option, and then you can select "store in my inventory" after the purchase is complete, you will have the game in your steam inventory, and you can just trade it to the winner of your giveaway.

You can get codes instead of gifts from Amazon, Humble Bundle, and other sites that are not the Steam store.

When you giveaway ended, you have a table with notice (One of your giveaways was ended and click there) after that - you going to this link(in table) and saw name winner with mail. After that you can send gift or steam key by mail or add winner in steam and use chat.

Bundle sites tend to be the most common source of keys, humble bundle, indie gala, there's a few more out there too.

Go here to create a giveaway. Keep in mind you can create a limited number of giveaways each month. That number increases as you give more games successfully. Deleted giveaways will also take up those limited slots.

Once the giveaway ends, you have seven days to give the game to the winner. You can purchase games from steam (choose this is a gift, store it in my inventory), purchase from other digital game stores such as Amazon, GreenManGaming, GamersGate etc (you get steam redeemable codes from them), or purchase bundles and give the link to the full bundle or individual game codes from it.

You can email the game or code to the winner (you can see the email address after they win here or you can add them on steam to give it personally. You are not allowed to ask for anything in return when giving the game.

And welcome to the site.
