Mark not received

Ask him for the correct game, if he doesn't send it in 7 days, mark not received. DO NOT mark as received unless you get the right game.

Post a message in the giveaway. And as Dhoom says, if he doesn't give you the correct game, mark not received in 7 days.

^^ This, because if he won the points for one game and give another it is cheat to gain lvl on SG and thats just wrong.

Well, it's not exactly about the CV in this case (although this is very often the problem) but rather the winner will get in trouble for not having a won game in his library.

Yep, happened to me a few weeks ago, received a different Axis Game Factory Dlc, gifter had no other copies. It's mixed though as you do get something but you have to mark it as not received otherwise you get in trouble.

You can always agree to the giveaway being deleted to spare the gifter from getting the -rep. He still loses the slot, but he doesn't gt that nasty "not received" stain on his profile.

Unless it's a giveaway of several copies, 2 got a bad one, the other 3 a good one.

What? There's no way to NOT activate a key once you enter it or test it to see if it's the right game.

How he will know that the key was from another game?

Make a support ticket asking to change the giveaway to the correct game, contact the sender and make sure he agrees. It's in his best interest to agree since otherwise he'll get a not received.

wait, that's not a user, that's a publisher, just leave them a message, i've seen & had another make a similar mistake (invalid key), it's understandable when there are hundreds of copies

edit: messages could be on steam, or could be twitter, email, game forum, etc

I guess we just have to wait a week and mark it as not recieved then, seeing as their Steam page is private (Dev 'n all that) unless they change the giveaway or something.

This is actually quite weird. I thought that when such a huge amount of game keys is getting transferred via Steamgifts, they are automatically distributed by Steamgifts site. If this was the case, which I believe it was (172 copies), then it's actually believable that everyone received the same wrong game like you did. Now if that's the case, then it would be quite strange as many people did not care and simply marked as received.

if it's a developer, i suppose they can revoke your key and give you a correct one.

just don't mark it as received.

It happened to me once, they key didn't work, he offered a list of games to pick from. I didn't really mind and said thank you, I picked a game.

I marked received. Got suspended for one week a few months later. Was pissed. Traded to get the game I was supposed to win so people don't think I'm a bad guy not following rules.

The next time this happens (if it does) the only nice thing you can do is agree with him to have the giveaway deleted, instead of him taking a not received hit. Or wait until he gives you the right game key if he can.
