So Foul Play came out a few days ago. I assume some of you grabbed it, so what are your thoughts? If you don't know what it is, Foul Play is a Beat 'em up that is actually a play. So it's like Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers combined! xD It costs $15 (300 RUB for Russians or people who would buy from one, which is about 5 TF2 Keys), and the page is here

Anyways, what were your thoughts? I only played through Act 1, but here were my first impressions-

  • The fighting doesn't seem that fluid. The movement is difficult to cope with when trying to get a high combo since you get a very tiny grace period between hits.
  • Movement itself is a bit slow
  • Parrying is a great idea, specially when they incorporate combos with it
  • Standard combos are limited, but from what it looks like, you unlock more moves and combos throughout the game
  • The challenge concept is fun. It gives you more of an objective, which enriches the gameplay
  • The way the play runs is nice. It actually runs like a play, even with some audience participation and you see the crew

Overall, it's a great game. It could use some fixes, which I hope happens with it, so I would probably not buy it for $15. Although, getting it for 300 RUB is a great deal. Definitely buy it if you can get it for that much. (Which is $9.5)

I know they're the same dev team that made Who's That Flying?! so I'll be buying it to support them. I like that they've taken a step into the Beat 'em Up realm because there were some pretty neat things in WTF?! that were a bit different for a bullet hell game that I really enjoyed and I'd like to see what they throw on the table for Foul play. I plan to get it when my next paycheck goes through.
