Lots of people are concerned it'll be used to spam but I visit forums where it's allowed and pretty much no one uses it to spam people anyway. Have a bit more faith in the community please.

On some forums and other chat/community systems I have used, you can use an @username to mention someone. Some use a bbcode [@ id=1234]username[/@]
Thought it might be a good way to tag someone in a message and what not.
