If I remember correctly there has already been a meteor thing in Russia.
Looked it up and sure enough... It was called the Tunguska event.

Russia is a little unlucky (Or lucky) in terms of meteors.

Because the asteroid detection system that the earth has only picks up about 1% of everything thats out there. And that 1% is only an estimate. It could be more it could be less, they don't actually know.

The sky is huge and we don't have full coverage of it and during daylight hours they can't really see much.
