Do it, its a good ranking website for achievment hunters anyway

I don't think they're pointless, but I don't exactly go out of my way to go for them unless I'm extremely bored. They definitely add replay value to the game and I don't see anything wrong with them, however some people wished there would be some sort of "gamerscore" attached to it for the cumulative achievements you've unlocked. I'm not too partial on it either way, but those achievement/trophy hunters would like this.

I liked achievements in diablo 3 and wow,but i dont know why i am not trying achis in steam..

Doing those achievements gave you rewards as well. Mounts, titles, banners, etc. Provides additional incentive. I'm the same way though. I like doing the achievements for those two games, but don't really care about Steam's.

i like achievements for me it makes some games longer if you go for achievements like i dont think anyone will play secret of the magic crystals more then 1hr if it was not for achievements

For me achievements are a good plus. Feels good to unlock the hard ones.
I felt really good finishing all HL2 and Sequence for example.
I guess I'll look more at games with achievements than those without, but doesn't mean they are why I buy a game.

They're nice ways of looking at the possibilities when playing the game (looking at something like the achievements in Sequence or the HL2 games is a good example), but they definetly don't drive my decisions when buying it.

If it gives Valve money from more people enjoying the game with achievements - it is good. Of course it does, so I like the feature. I don't care about the little pop up window, it doesn't annoy me, like instant messenger's boxes. So - I like it!

I think they are pretty cool, and I don't see why you would dislike them.

I think they're awesome. Its extra incentive, more reasons to play a game, and your friends can see the things that you've accomplished ingame. It's not one of the things I look for when buying, but I am glad when steam games come with them.

I don't care about achievements that much. It is annoying to see that window pop up if one just follows the story. Unfortunately that's how achievements work in many, many games. You simply have to do exactly what you're supposed to do, there are a few exceptions though

They're not showy enough. Your friends can only find out if you have an achievement or not by going to that game directly. There needs to be some aggregate score of all the achievements combined listed on the profile for the brag factor to kick in.

Valve must make same thing like with Wii And Xbox , 1 achievement=50 points , 500 points=1 game . THAT WOULD BE AWESOME

Who's here love to see that tiny "Achievement Unlocked" box popping up on your screen and who thinks it's pointless?
Do you think Steam achievements are one of selling points for Steam games?
For me, availability of Steam achievements are one of my consideration when I want to buy some game on Steam, aside of multiplayer and steamworks stuff.
