Thank you for all the PA (and other) GAs you have made <3

hey Miss, just wanted to tell you one kinda personal dumb rule i have: i don't like talking about something like "kids, sons, daughters, nephews..." in the Internet. i mean, openly, where everybody can see.
really hope this will not a problem for you.

With the Internet the way it is, these days, it seems a wise move to keep the kids "off it."
P.S.(Frankly, I avoid using social media, myself, and I'm a cynical adult.)

Sorry, I didn't mean to com across as disagreeing with you. I was actually supporting the idea that it was "not a dumb rule at all."

My mother is under the impression that I moderate SG in lieu of watching TV "or other, frivolous pursuits." Please don't disabuse her of that notion. P

You're so right. You should never trust the internet, you have no control over the information you share.
Sadly the kids from today are pretty eager in spreading personal data themselves all over the world, it's part of their culture and evolvement these days. :(

I know, just joking that you could do it. :)
Also I would say in that case the games are needed more than for just own playing so nothing wrong with it either.
Edit: also maybe the idea of a mom requiring kids to play video games through before they can clean their room sounded too hilarious.

I think Playing Appreciated and Playing Matters is fun, but not having the time to play is probably the single best reason not to join those groups.
And of course your youngest plays games more than you do. Kids don't have the responsibilities of adults - they think that going to school for 5 hours and coming home with a half hour of homework is a "tough day." I wish I had nothing more pressing to do than play games all evening long.

It's an awesome group. People follow the rules, and everyone is helpful and friendly. I've won (and finished) two or three games, if I remember correctly. I'm trying to play all my other SG wins thou.
I made a GA too, and the game was played immediately, so. Awesome.

It's a great group for giving away games you actually want played. Thanks for all the giveaways you've shared!

closest thing to a "lurker" option, is what you thought: Option 2. also, can understand what you need.
now, i hadn't checked your ratio (:P) but i don't think there's some limit of sort (time or quantity related) for Option 2.
if you want more official infos (or any other questions), ask in their thread.
edit: errors here and there

While I really like the idea on paper, I play all of my games in OFFLINE mode, and steam doesn't log the stats properly when playing offline.
In many games I've unlocked many achievements and stats but they don't get synced with steam when you go online. This is a problem for me with these groups; there's no way to show that I've played the games I've won (or other games in my library for that matter). Achievements unlock in-game but not in-profile. Local game may log time played but steam can't track play time because, again, offline mode.
I do wish there was a way around this but, in all reality these "statistics" and "rewards" all mean nothing in the end. Games are meant to be enjoyed and not farmed/feeling that it's a job.

always thought SG rules are "enough" for me. so much that i'm not member of any group with additional rules. chosen PA mostly when i saw its dedicated tool/site. also, i'm still not ready to join them and enter giveaways: i'm only "gifting".
PA has one rule, yes. has some "math" involved, numbers. still, its "human" part is something i feel to recommend to anyone, here at SG.
thanks for sharing, Officer!

I'm not quite sure I'm understanding what you are saying. Maybe you can elaborate a little bit?
How does taking a screen shot from the middle of the game prove that I have played it and/or captured achievements? Maybe when the achievement logo pops up a screenshot can be taken, but often times the achievement box only shows the title of the achievement earned and not the icon that goes with it (guess it needs to query steam servers to grab that picture. Though SOME GAMES do come up with the graphic).
I feel like I'm turning this into something bigger than it should be. Just made me think of if people look at my profile and look for games I've won and it shows that I haven't played any. It's very, very misleading. Hundreds of hours put into BOI, Rogue Legacy, Payday 2 (and more), but they won't show because I play offline ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i gave you a solution to what you wrote...
This is a problem for me with these groups; there's no way to show that I've played the games I've won
just take a screen shoot from middle of the game and the end of it same as a game with no achievements to prove you played it! :)

Ahh, I see what you mean now. There's always software solution's too, kind of like the way a ps4 share button works to save screenshots and/or videos (and how it captures trophy screenshots automatically). Thank you

not at all! :P
but hey, shower thoughts are made of water, my writing often rimes with UFO... so, yes, i can forgive you

The only reason I don't make all my GAs for PA is that I get shamed for having such a low Public CV :P
Great group. I won great games there (two from icaio! and I'm struggling like crazy on my latest win lol but it's so much fun) and as a long time procrastinator, it's a good way to motivate myself to play.

i have to say i really like being in PA, and i also try to forward all wins from SG in general (im in the middle of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut and have in it +100H already for example) :)
but still sometime i feel people forget that there are also other games on backlog that we also wish to play (for example i got gifted XCOM2 outside of SG which was no 1 of my wishlist games etc)
beside strict time frame aint for every one...
i personal try to do 1:1:1 (PA win:SG win: backlog game) but it is dynamic :D
so i played so far:
and personally (on the rare times i can afford to give games) im just happy i made someone happy with the game he won, if he plays it or not or when -thats just a bonus for me :)

That was incoherent.
Also, why do you keep dumping heaps and heaps of trash into PA? Aren't we trying to keep the game standard like, decent?

I really like Playing Appreciated, and even more so Playing Matters.
That said, and I really mean no offence as I'm guessing English is your second language, I'm having a really hard time understanding what you write. I get that it's overall positive of PA and similar groups, but the details of your post really confuse me.

I enjoyed our interactions, icaio, and I plan on getting around to playing Baobab's Mausoleum (that I won from you) soon...
Though for some reason, barring Playing Appreciated giveaways, I really enjoy playing all of my wins in December. I did it last year and I'm looking forward to it this year

PA is one of the best souls our SteamGifts has.
a year ago or so, was keep on lurking PA from far... wow, low numbers and a bunch of awesome giveaways. few months later was asking Reforced to join them, but only offering games to their members. didn't like much some ratios, say a few seemed to take a lot, really much. maybe too much, in my (old) book.
so tested the thing with a few giveaways to know better "how to play my game": a -very- few users didn't followed the only rule, kinda physiological.
still, what i really got in exchange was something new to me, SG member (even if it shouldn't): people will actually play the game you've given away.
this happens pretty much always. this means, could means a lot of things depending on how you're living your SteamGift Experience™.
always given away -very- "minor games". trash, sometimes. but, until now, always had deep fried tons of juicy fun, here at SG. done the same with PA, lowering -a ton and a half- quality of giveaways, there...
one could write a review for a game you've gifted. one other, will really like your game tastes and will give you noice tips. or you'll get awesome quality whitelist members, or a friend, maybe.
i also had this nice idea: why not soundtracks, if your name begins with Playing...? so made my awesome dlc giveaway for PA. few days later, Reforced sent me a message, here, containing a screenshot of the winner running Media Player Classic.
this is also Playing Appreciated.
you should really check, also, and/or refine with:
have fun!
