Kickstarted. Never regretted it.
I enjoy games that are purposely challenging and force you to learn and overcome. Progress is far more rewarding when you actually feel like you've earned it. Some of my greatest gaming memories are of the failures, setbacks, and learning experiences, the bumps in the road on the way to whatever I aimed to achieve. I wouldn't trade those for anything.
FTL is a brilliant, complex, painful, wonderful game. It's a gem amongst the deluge of casual-leaning, achievements-on-a-silver-platter garbage that has tarnished mainstream gaming.

Its a great game all told.
I still havent gotten all the ships though, thats my only complaint. Ive gotten four not including the starter.
Some of them are just so stupid to get that you need to meet several requirements at once and thats not always possible.

FTL is a really hard game, but that's what makes it so awesome!
It took me a while to beat it, but since my first victory I've beaten the game around 25 times or so and I've unlocked all ships, along with most of the second variations.
If you're really not having fun with it you could try playing with a mod or two, you can find them here (You need Grognak's Mod Manager to run mods in FTL, it's actually quite simple to do once you have it installed on your PC.
I've recently been playing with mods to make the game harder than the "hard" difficulty and I'm really enjoying it!

i suck at it and i dont regret a single second i play the game. it's fun, the story is so open ended that you can either focus on creating your own or just relax and let there be nothing behind it. it's a very good game to enjoy the music (beast ost) and have fun watching the oxygen get sucked out into space and your crew dying for the 1000th time.

I got FTL gifted to me, and I'm honestly not enjoying it that much. Ignoring the fact that I'm just fucking terrible -FUCKING. TERRIBLE- at it, easy mode still seems pretty hard. I started of with the Zoltan ship and a rebel rigger completely destroyed my ship by setting it on fire and such. I couldn't do anything because, well, the game doesn't start you off with enough power to actually use your weapons effectively, and my whole damn ship was either broken or on fire.
In a rather non-rage comment... I seriously do think this game is very hard. Either I'm unlucky, or I just don't know a secret way to move through sections.
TL;DR I fucking hate FTL because I suck at it. Anyone else having doubts about the game?
