Fair enough, though unfortunately that attitude will probably still haunt the internet for a long time. Still, I'd say that this community has much fewer people with the "girl = guy in real life" mentality than other communities. Of course, I could be wrong since I don't really know how often you get people telling you that you're the opposite gender.

I was like you not so long ago... then I realized it's just easier to stop caring and just let them believe what they want, this way they bother me less haha. Although the only thing that makes me say out loud that I'm a female is when they start calling me squeaker or that I should go to bed (happens every once in a while in CSGO), that's just plain annoying when I'm not in the mood to just say yes and that I have a small penis to make fun of their ignorance.

The entire sex / gender / orientation thing is a non-issue unless you're getting harassed for it. On the internet where everyone has layered quasi-anonymity, we have no real ways to be certain of anything. I find the best way to go about it is just to identify people as they want to be identified, whether you suspect otherwise or not. Besides, there's no harm in being 'wrong' if you assume someone's sex matches their name/avatar. What're they going to do? Mock you for giving someone the benefit of the doubt?
Now the real trick is, what gender do you think Drutt is (the little spider thing in my avatar)?
Hint : It's not aranchnasex claygendered.
tl;dr : Why can't people just be cool? Nobodies junk is important, just how many free games you are shoveling into our mouths!

Yeah, but the joke did tickle the edges of something serious so I wanted to give a shrug and a "you're cool either way". It's a subject that irks me too, so I guess I just wanted to have an awkwardly sober-faced moment to remind you that the dumbitude is noticed by others too. A weird show of solidarity I guess? I dunno. I mean, the entire point of gaming is to have a good time, so it sucks that you inherited that shitty emotional baggage. It's far too common really, but until people start calling people out on being douchebags inside their individual gaming communities, it'll never change.
The weirdest part is that it seems uniformly hostile in all directions, and that any targeting of demographics, denominations or differences is just an over-reaching for whatever they can use to offend any specific target. Accent, gender, presumed ethnicity, age, sexuality, political affiliation, handle, avatar image, weapon preference, favourite deoderant, day of the week, moon cycle, number of blood sacrifices, etc. Anything that stands out is an instant target, and it's sad that being a woman who dares to use a microphone is one of those things. Being a younger kid must be a nightmare though, you can guarantee that half the people in any server are going to give them shit just for being young. I think the suspicion of being excluded or targeted is just a natural side effect of the messed up playerbase more than some random confirmation bias on your part.
