People say that Mafia 2 sucked compared to 1, but I still really enjoyed it, and would recommend as really good title. I don't know if it's "best gangster game", because I didn't play enough of those games to choose, but it's definitely best of those I played, and yes, I did play Mafia 1 as well.

I replayed GTA San Andreas a few months back. Man that is a long game! But Sleeping Dogs has been mentioned several times so I may have to check that out. :)

It is a great game. I want to replay it but would love to complete the first part first. I also wish I could get the dlc for Mafia II. :(

Omerta: City of Gangsters is a lot better than the reviews would lead you to believe. The game gets shallow near the end, but it's still pretty damn fun.

Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is considered one of my all time favorite games. Mafia 2 is still decent. Never tried The Godfather, Scarface and any other older gangster games but if you don't mind more modern approach, you can go for Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 2, if you have a console (just don't even try it on PC, no matter how powerful your rig is. That's one of the worst PC ports ever made)

I've been looking at getting older gangster games and am wondering what the forum users here recommend? Some of these are quite expensive as they've been removed from Steam so it really only makes sense to buy a physical copy. Even then they carry a hefty price...
