I hope your friend made a distinction between arranged marriages and arranged marriages made specifically for political/profit gain. Most arranged marriages result in happier marriages than freely chosen marriages. just a quick stat on arranged marriages and happiness levels. There's more out there.
Anyways, didn't mean to make it a big thing but when people freak out over arranged marriages it bugs me sooooo yeah.

There is massive difference between the 2.
It was pretty much based on how in some countries is considered normal to engage your child or look for her husband /wife at a really young age ... Purely based on the needs of your family .
Like you marry of your daughter to some relatively wealthier family , regardless of what happens to her afterwards.
She may be abused sold forced to work to prostitute etc , and they close their eyes cause they got a sum of money for her .
Other cases are the political marriages , well not so much political more company gain based nowadays .
Like if Bill Gates marry his daughter to Steve Jobs son just so they get some company deal or something stupid like that .... Things like this do happen still , and it's surprisingly mostly in some small businesses even local stuff .
Don't really want to talk much bout that cause it genuenly gets me angry , but again arranged marriage has nothing to do with a forced one ...

I'm not a victim of sexual abuse myself, but I've been going to therapy for other issues for many years now. Many different therapists as well. It's helped me a lot to understand and accept certain things about myself.
I wish I could say it's just a matter of time, of finding the right person to help you, but the truth is, I just don't know. People are helped in different ways, and I just hope you find someone or something to help you learn to live with what you've been through. One thing is for certain though, these things always takes time and effort..

There are also otherwise good people that commit monstrous acts.
