EDIT: from the preorder letter: Incidentally, 'Really Big' in its title is a reference to one of the included games and, in part, the scope/genre of the others, rather than it being a massive 1000-in-1 pack!

Yeah... the "preorder sight unseen" thing has been the deal breaker for me. I don't want to get it and then find out I already have all the indie titles in the pack. It would be different if it were say, humble bundle, because it doesn't matter if I have the titles... that money goes to charity... but this is just a sale. I'd rather spread the love to other titles I DON'T have.
Then again... I 'spose if I owned all of the titles it could be gifted here after it was done right? Curse your succulent allure indie bundles!!

They've made it clear that the cost TO YOU is $0, however they are giving the band some money. Since the entire concept is to 'support indies' I think this falls well in line with that.

It's not quite the same. The Humble Bundle has a minimum price, but here you can choose not to pay at all. Also, you're not costing the artist money for bandwidth, game servers and possibly tech support -- Bandcamp covers free downloads (up to a limit though, based on revenue).
I didn't know they paid them for the bundle pre-order bonus albums, but to me as the ignorant consumer, whose motivation is "I want that", it doesn't make a difference. If you are aware of this and actively want to, as you said, support indies, then yes, I suppose you do have a point.

In the old days the humble bundle had no actual minimum price. The whole 'minimum price to get the extras' was only introduced in the last 2 bundles. People were actively ripping them off by paying 1 cent and bragging about it which was pretty disgusting

No, by minimum price I mean the $0.01 that's always been there. Bandcamp doesn't have this for pay what you want downloads.
It's the difference between just clicking "download", and actively having to enter that cent into the payment box, then going through the checkout process. I bet that if the Humble Bundle had a "just give me the games" $0 button, the average price would drop like a rock, bonus deals or not.

If you put it that way, they shouldn't have delayed. If they had competed against Steam, they'd likely have won (especially in Euroland because they do proper currency conversion), and the "already own it" problem would have been sales lost to Steam instead of them.
