I wish to run those upcoming games like witcher 3 smoothly.
Any sizes will do.

build a PC instead :/ you won't get much performance with a $800 laptop compared to a $800 PC, and even $800 is quite a low budget for a PC

I saw some MSI gaming laptops. But you can get a good brand laptop (this means avoid Acer, HP, Packard Bell) with a good GPU to play games, even if it's not saying "gaming"

It's not as horrible as it has been, and when you want a Laptop on a budget it's just hard to get any "good brands" with decent specs

buying a bad quality laptop is very bad idea, you will spend less, but sometimes the cheaper is more expensive, because it won't last that long as other laptops do like Asus for example, Acer products tend to break easily, their hardware just breaks, laptops tend to overheat after sometime, my father had one Acer laptop, and all just broke even with normal use, also the pre installed software makes computer slower, my brother had a Acer PC hardware just gives problems after sometime, same for Acer monitors the won't last long or can give problems, all my friends have problems with Acer laptops, so just avoid trashy Acer >.<

Got no problem with my Acer Laptop at all, though I removed all the preinstalled crap it came with it

Acer Aspire V7 582PG the product I mean

Maybe after few months it will, this brand is more likely to give problems, I say this because all ppl I know who had this laptops for at least almost 1 year always have problems. Not means everyone will have them.

Having owned an Acer laptop I agree with this. Graphic card just fried.

Have this. Made some limited upgrades. Works well, but I had to buy and install a new screen because the first one broke two months after purchase. No more budget laptops for me, only the more expensive shit.

Sometimes buying a proper PC is not worth it because you have to move too much.

"Gaming" does not mean "I want to run everything at ultra." It means I want something portable that can play games acceptably.

I recommend you an Acer Aspire V7 582PG

click

Got an IPS Panel, dedicated graphics card, SSD cache (which you can swap out for an MSATA SSD)

If you are fine with toning down resulotion, and not play on ultra, this is a nice lappy (got it myself)

One big caveat though, dont expect to be able to play outside in bright sun settings :)

The glossy screen (required for the ultrabook moniker) doesnt help with this :D

But its a nice lappy overall, 2,2kg aswell, so very portable

for that budget i think the best deal for laptop is asus a46cb or lenovo z410 sir.
if it for gaming i think you should build a PC instead of buying laptop, maybe with that budget you can run on medium sett but with the same budget for PC (excl monitor) you can get high sett. cmiiw

First thing when buying a gaming laptop is to ask yourself - will I ever move this piece of fine electronic engineering out from my mancave more than 2 times in a year? If the answer is no, then it's better to build your own PC.

There is no such thing as a budget gaming laptop. gaming laptops are expensive.

There is no such thing as gaming laptop, putting "budget" into it makes it very-very sad.

GT630m is pathetic card. I'm using it and it's struggling to even running D3 on lowest setting.

Don't get any 6xxm gen for your next laptop.

No such thing as a "gaming laptop". All those so-called gaming laptops are crap and will need upgrading after a year. Just get a desktop. It's cheaper and will last three times as long.

OP explains why he need laptop

I think college is a very good reason to try to get a laptop.

If it was not for your video card, you would have no reason for upgrade. If you want a decent laptop fro gaming(NOT gaming laptop) be prepared to pay around 800 Eur for mid tier performance. If you want gaming laptop with top tier performance then be prepared to pay 1100 Eur and more.

I recently bought a new laptop, which is quite powerful, but by no means it can be called gaming laptop and I had to pay ~800 Eur for it.

laptops drop in value fast, ie. I bought a gtx 660m for $1400, then 1 year later a gtx 780m cost the same as it.....

$800 is hard to get a ok (gtx) gaming laptop in Malaysia, you can try looking for last year(2013)'s version of lenono y580, which cost around/less than RM3k
