1 hour of the maximum quality HD video on Netflix is about 2.8 GB. If he watched even 3,5 hours of stuff on Netflix everyday, he'd go over the 300GB limit. And that's when you disregard all the other bandwidth use.

"Luckily, I am in one of those areas."
Don't you mean unluckily? or were you being sarcastic?...:/

For all I knew, he could've just misspelled it. I know that I sometimes mix up words when I'm thinking too far ahead.
And sarcasm isn't all that noticeable on the internet...or at least to me lolz. :D

Don't worry...everyone has that feeling once in their internet lifetime. It's usually followed by an urge to facepalm at the other person's stupidity. :p

German Telekom is doing a 75 GB/month limit and then throttling you down to isdn speed. Prices for additional bandwidth at full speed aren't know yet, but probably at least the same (or more) as the "flatrates" base cost. Yes, they call it Schni.. err Flaterate.
tl;dr immediately change your isp.

My heart bleeds for you. I can barely watch Youtube on my connection in Mexico City.

That'd be nice if Comcast would do that, but this affects me and I've had them for over a year prior. There shall be lots of complaints in that time period. The letter says this is a consumer trial and that they may modify or discontinue it at any time. I hope this means they will listen to the outcry.

It is really stupid how they have a monopoly like that. The only internet I can get has a 2.5GB cap. I'm basically using mobile internet on my home desktop. You learn to cut back.

Comcast is the only provider in my area at the moment. They never enforced the 250GB cap in the past and I was ALWAYS over it. So far I dont have this new cap yet but if it comes into my area im screwed. Shit 1 game is going to be 10% and there will be months with 2-5 games out so yeah...not to mention my phone and TV is through internet.

Just become a Comcast business user, it's about the same price, with no bandwidth limitations.

Good idea. I will probably be looking into that.
EDIT: For about $20 more I would get a speed increase, but lose my TV. I have Netflix, so I don't really care about TV. On the other hand, I could pay about $20 less and lose more than half my speed and TV.

I know, but the point is that they are both coerced monopolies. All the big cable companies basically collude to keep prices high while giving the consumer less. No one is bringing down any monopoly by being with one of two competitors in areas where they are the likely only two options.

you're lucky... i get a cap of 220GB a month, more than likely slower internet than you (8MBps download limited to 1.8MBps in a single connection 0.6MBps Upload) and per GB i go over it costs me $1, so 50GB over costs $50... and this is shared between 3 people... get over it dude

Comcast has once again decided to enact a bandwidth limitation on its users, in select areas. Luckily, I am in one of those areas. They are limiting bandwidth usage to 300GB/month and charging an extra $10 after that, per 50GB block. I have always exceeded that limit and already pay out the butt for service anyway. Comcast is the only option I have for High Speed Internet where I am at. Needless to say, I am not happy. Please join with me and sign the posted petition.

EDIT: It seems I can get AT&T U-verse, but the speeds are way slower, but a bit cheaper.
EDIT2: Crap AT&T has a lower limit of 250GB with the same extra charge for every 50GB.
