It's on-topic [Gaming, Steam, Steamgifts, Steamgifts community, etc] and doesn't itself offer any sort of deal, so it'd be most suitable General. Alternatively, as a PSA related to a "deal", you could probably rather easily argue it for the Deals thread, at least up until the actual "deal" thread associated with the topic incorporates the information in a readily visible way. Off-topic wouldn't really be a good match for it, however.

Wow, in my region the new discounted price is higher that the old default one. That's kinda impressive, for all the wrong reasons.

Same here. Crysis 2 was CDN$29.99. Now it is CDN$39.99.

In my country (Mexico) they increased the prices right when they first announced EA Access was coming to Steam, almost triple in some cases, luckily I already had everything I was interesed in from them. Im only waiting for them to add Mass Effect 3 and thats it, I dont care about any game they've released in the last years.

They are just adding the 30% Steam cut on top of prices to earn the same as from Origin. But if you want them on Steam it makes to sense to just buy them and not wait couple years if the prices will drop.

From 19.99€ to 29.99€ and from 14.99€ to 19.99€. Those sound more like a problem with regional pricing for some reason or another.

That's not too exceptional either. All publishers (and actually all globally active business) must adjust their prices to counter currency fluctuations. The Turkish Lira has roughly 45% of the value it had 5 years ago. You can't expect companies to ignore such a devaluation.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do we talk about very different price increases in one country for two different EA games?
That would be indeed strange, unless these are vastly different types of games. If one would be an outdated multiplayer game, they might go for a "lower" price in comparison for a somewhat newer game that still gets frequent updates etc.

In Canada, both of those had a price raise in February, to become roughly equal to the USD value, after the Canadian dollars value dropped. I remember, at the time, a couple games still had the old CAD price on Origin, making the Steam version more expensive. But, I can't recall which game(s). These two have the exact same sale price and discount % on Origin as Steam, so, I don't think it skyrocketed here. Compared to the US prices, Crysis 2 is a little cheaper, and Need For Speed is a couple cents more expensive.

I wish I knew the biggest discount DA:I complete had on Origin. I can only find the base game discount. I want to play the dlc for it, but, I don't want to spend $28 for it, so, I'll keep waiting for a better discount. I hope we hear about the ME remasters on the 11th.

Prices are still better on Origin for me anyway so I don't think I'll buy them on Steam any time soon.

This is misleading, the price is increased for months before going on sale. Yet, you wait until now to complain.

It is illegal to raise prices right before a sale and then reduce it (at least it is here). They have to be at the higher price for at least 4 weeks before they can reduce it again and claim it's a sale. That might vary from country to country, so they cover all their bases.

It's a dirty, but legal tactic. So I do understand where the OP is coming from. EA did nothing wrong by law, but we know exactly what they were doing. ;)

Again, they're not doing this right before a sale, it's been months now. I would not say that this is a dirty tactic to boost sales rather than adjusting the price for the game. It's their games, they can set the price where they see fit.

Unfortunately, in my region, I will only pay the same amount as before this criminal EA increase, only when games receive a 90% discount or more ...
And most are old games! I will never pay the price of a new game in an old game.

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, for example, costs the equivalent of US$1.19 at 75% off. Today, the same game costs the equivalent of US$5.08!!!, with the same discount percentage applied!!!!

Yep regional pricing is also completely backasswards. Old cheap non "remaster" versions removed from sale. Welcome to EA.

Taking your example of Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, in the US, the sales price is the same as it was in every sale going back to 2015, and the base price hasn't changed either.

Mar 20, 2015 = $30
Jan 27, 2020 = $30
Oct 13, 2015 = $7.49 @75% off
Jun 04, 2020 = $7.49 @75% off

USD is the only price they care about because both Steam and the publisher are American. Every other price is derived from it based on exchange rates, taxes, huge discounts given to poorer countries and RNG.

I guess they finally realized people are still buying their old games on Steam.
Also to make EA access more enticing and makes you install their Origin client.
Hoping to follow the success of Windows Store and Xbox Game Pass.
