Its revoked... The person who gifted it to you bought it with a stolen credit card or just bought the game, did the trade, then called his credit card company and cancelled the payment. send in a support ticket. I heard some ppl get another copy from support as long as it wasn't your fault or some shit.

If you paid him money outside of steam you are fucked. You will not however be banned you just lost whatever you traded. If you traded him games via trade you would have been able to have valve reverse the trade, but it seems you gave him cash.

Your account is safe. If it happens again it means nothing towards your account status.

1 decade ago

Because you're missing the point. You got scammed by someone who made a quick and dirty account to mess with people. A week-old account has no history and shouldn't be trusted.

You won't get a ban, it just gets revoked.

That guy you traded with probably used some creditcard or whatever and managed to get his money back, or it was a stolen one :/

I got some question to you guys (op pls don't close thread -_-)

  • How much time took to get this game banned after purchase?
  • If you paid him with WebMoney, can't you do chargeback?
  • What with PayPal? Is it safer?
  • Did you talk with your "friend"?
1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

1- There no ban after purchase

2- I think you can if you talk with steam support

3- Is safer like Webmony

4- Talk about what ?

Ugh...

  • Game was banned, revoked. How long after purchase?
  • It has nothing to do with Steam...
  • Why?
  • What did say the guy, who bought this game for you?

This happened to me last year on Christmas sales, A MW3 copy I traded got revoked and thus removed from my inventory. I created a support ticked with all the information and after 4 days they replied the items I traded for it were again in my backpack (traded MW3 for TF2 Earbuds + some keys).

Problem is you traded for something outside Steam, they can't do nothing. (well, maybe they can issue a trade warning)

Good one made me laugh. He's obviously a scammer that only wanted your money, you really think he is going to give it back? If you sent it using PayPal order a chargeback ASAP before the option is no longer available.

if he intended to scam you (and it sounds like he did)

Did he ask you to add something like "gift for digital items, i won't charge back" etc etc?

In which case. paypal (or whatever you used) won't even help you there

Something similar happened to me last year. I traded one copy of Darkness II for three live puppies, the other guy had a steam account in good standing and a lot of rep but after a week when i woke up all the puppies were gone. I immediately contacted steam support hoping that they can reverse the trade but they just refunded the game value to my steam wallet. I think that the other guy still has my puppies, maybe he trained them somehow so they can find their way back

as long as you did not give him real money, you are fine. if he just gave it to you, nothing can be done. but, if you traded him something for it, contact steam support and they might give you what you gave him back.

Elsewhere in the thread, OP admits to having paid him money external to Steam. And OP's "friend" is in the Ukraine.

He paid his 'friend' money that was recently made and hasn't logged in since. The signs were there and he fell for it.
