He did all his acting in London though in front of a green screen, while the rest of his colleagues filmed in New Zealand.

But I find it odd that he passed on Sunday and just now is everyone reporting this.
Any clues to as why??

The decision to release the news days after was based on his wife’s desire to inform family members first. The couple had been married for over 50 years.

I agree with her decision. It's only right that family is informed before the media. I can't imagine if I was a family member and how I would feel if I found out secondhand through some media outlet.

At least they respected her widow's wishes, that's rare on this day and time. May he rest in peace in the far beyond

Aw man, Lee was a horror legend. Check out The Wicker Man from 1973, it's really fantastic and it subverts what roles Christopher Lee was known for up until that point.

That's a shame, he was a good actor and seemed like a good person as well. 93 is a respectable age though.

And my strongest memory of him will probably be from a movie that few think of when they think of him, namely Mio min mio.

lol Christian Bale. I had just seen him in Empire of the Sun. The movie is from the same year but he looks a lot younger.

It's actually a really strange movie if you look into where and how it was made. A good portion of the cast was from the Soviet Union, and another part was big name western actors, and it was shot in Sweden, Norway and the Soviet union. Apparently part of the reason why it was made was to bridge the gap between east & west. I guess it makes sense that they would use a movie like this for that though, Sweden was officially neutral, and the stories by Astrid Lindgren were from what I've heard popular on both sides of the wall.

I vaguely remember him being in one of the Gremlins movies, after that I remember him fondly as Saruman in the LoTR films. He was such a big fan of Tolkien. In one of the behind the scenes parts of the extended LoTR DVDs he mentioned that he'd read LoTR once a year, every year since Tolkien had them published, and it was always a dream of his to play a part in the movies if they should ever be made. I'm glad one of his dreams came true. Video

To me he also had "one of those voices", you know, like Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones.

RIP Sir Christopher Lee, you will definitely be missed.
Also thanks OP, for listing his title.

Thanks for reminding! As far i remembered, Christoper Lee played Count Dooku aka Darth Tyrannus in Star Wars.
