Funny, 4G here is considered probably the fastest connection available short of living in the 10% of the country that actually has access to fiber network. Even then, 4G is not available everywhere, as we've switched from 3G only a few years ago. My prediction is that we won't get 5G before 2025 at best.

Here 100 is considered a basic human right :) https://www.bbc.com/news/10461048

Here internet access, period, isn't even considered as such. Most people are connected to a pretty unstable 7 mbps ADSL line, or 4G mobile connection with heavy datacaps (think about 5 to 30 gb per month at best). Prices aren't that bad, but it's no use offering low prices if you can't connect at all because you live in a small town with no cabled access in the first place. Couple that with the operators blatantly doing cartel to keep prices firm and never give a better offer than the competition and you'll get the general picture.
Which is ironic because internet access is basically required to find and do your job and keep in contact with everybody, as SMS aren't really that used anymore and phone calls aren't that efficient.

meanwhile 4G hasn't yet become popular in my country lol

I'm pretty sure that i'll devour 1 gb in a week at best and that's only because i have wifi at home. I have a friend without wifi and with a 20 gb data plan he manages to consume them all before the end of the month.

Lots of variables influences 4G speeds and other technical jargon, like network standards (as UMTS and LTE are), distance from the tower, obstacles, type of towers and traffic clutter, compatibility of the device (for example some manufacturers like Xiaomi don't usually employ the frequency band 20 that is used by several operators) and so on.

im still waiting for them to install UFO on my street (first city in the UK), its been a year the vans have been parked here now. I guess we'll get that when the rest of the UK gets solid dialup speeds?! O_____o
As to the 5G, i no longer want a portable tracking device and will be training carrier pidgeons to poo on my enemies windows rather than use social media.

We have 4.5G here and whoever thinks the world needs 5G is a moron. It's never about the download speed, anything over 100mpbs is idiotic. The availability, pricing and data cap shit destroys the main reasons anyone would want 4.5-5G.

So you think people who are using overcrowded 4G and can only dream of ever getting anything even near 100 are morons? The whole point is having more BW to share with everyone, not have it work ridiculously fast for one. And whatever on earth are data caps?

Besides, with games that are reaching over 100 gb of download, gaming on demand like PS Now, 4K streaming, data sharing and FTP exchanges, not to mention mining, we're gonna need all the speed and bandwidth we can get.
Also the presence alone of 5G will make previous standards more available for everyone, as ofter towers share both the previous and current transmissions.

Still using 3G in my phone due to better reception on average. I don't really care about download speed in a mobile ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finally we don't have to suffer from those horribly slow 4G mobile speeds, altho it's still bit costy at 44.90€/mo.
