Since June 2017, each Humble Choice / Monthly subscriber has access to the Humble Trove. It includes a variety of DRM-free games (no Steam). You can download any game as long as your subscription is active. New games are added every second Friday of the month.
It seems that they disappear after some time (about a year, sometimes more, sometimes less).

These are removed in January or February:
does anyone use this? i mean i have choices and never even both to look here
Dont think many cares concidering how few comments in the thread for two years and many of them are from OP.
I downloaded everything that is interesting every few months, so far played a few. Like played Gone Home from here, I plan to play whatever Dear Esther is... beats having to buy the game for it. (especially that I expect nothing from D.E., and likely I'll still be disappointed )
I don't buy Humble Monthly/Choice too often but when I do I go through the trove to grab stuff, so yes.
It's kind of funny because your question is the same one I would have about the DIG bundles every ~2 days that get posted here. Does anyone even care about or buy that garbage?
Decent DRM-free games but +0 vs +1 but DRM garbage.
I've never understood the whole +1 mentality and especially spending money on that sort of thing, nor would I even attempt to rationalize it to someone in 'real life' (who would probably look at me like I had 6 heads), but whatever I guess people have all sorts of odd quirks and even addictions.
Yeah, that's how it should be, but Steam has changed the landscape quite a bit.
My 16-year-old self would look at me in disbelief if he heard I would say no to a free game just because it isn't on my favorite launcher.
Well people wanting to stick to what they are familiar/comfortable with and the convenience of not having things in 16 different places is understandable, so what you are describing is a bit different. On another hand '+1' is when someone wants a game primarily (or solely) just to add one to their (meaningless) virtual game count and which they have no real intention of ever playing, either because the game itself doesn't appeal to them or because it is trash.
I absolutely do care. DRM free games that you actually own and don't just rent, hell yeah!
There are games that I had thought of getting but ended up not getting, thanks to the Trove. Less wallet damage. There are games I discovered too, thanks to the trove. Like Volantia, a surprising fun mini game, also Torchlight, enjoyed them. Also picked up series like Broken Sword, SpiderWeb games. Also picked up bunch of other games. Just that there's no noteworthies this couple of months. Cheers~

Trove is a boon for the kind of people who care about indie games and DRM-Free downloads, which is unlikely to be 100% of the customer base.
Additionally, Trove comes with Humble Originals, which can be exclusives.
The profile of the average SteamGifts user that is active on Discussions has been following a certain trajectory for a number of years now, so it might not be an incredibly faithful representation of the general user base.
Question: What happens when they remove the game regarding updates? Do you have a link that still gets updated (and that you can re-download even after it's been removed) or is it some general link in the trove that is gone completely?
it'S gone completely
Stuck with a "frozen" version isn't a good policy with todays' games. There has to be at least a 1-2 years gap to verify that the game is largely bug-free.
Outside of Humble Originals, Trove generally doesn't feature games that have just launched, so the lack of support in case of a removal is largely a moot point.
Only games that have been around for more than 4-5 years should be considered "safe" (and even then, in some cases..). I have seen a lot of games that haven't had an update in quite a while (year or so) but have had persisting bugs or other issues that haven't been addressed. And then suddenly there's a crucial update to fix said issues. In other cass, the developer came back to the game after a long break and added content. Hence it is largely not a moot point..

Sorry for trying to help.
I know that "Trove" isn't promoting/offering big names or very recent games, bar the "Humble Originals" like you also mentioned. It's their decision to remove or keep a game so I am voicing my disappointment about the practice of removing already owned games without a publicly announced strategy as to why they do that and I explained why, just above. Take for example Volgarr the Viking which is a game from 2012-13 and the last bugfix patch was in 2017.. four years later.
Not trying to be confrontational but I don't think it is helping when you are negating my point like that, unless you thought that by "today's games" I meant very recent ones. But no, I meant games after, say, 2000. Hopefully it was clearer from my second comment that it would make sense to keep games available for a certain amount of time..
I was never negating your point, I simply pointed out that you needn't be overly concerned about Trove.
It does seem to me you're making a mountain out of a molehill, for a number of reasons I won't go in detail about, because it does seem that you're pleased enough with your conclusions, and dissatisfied with reassurances, that I should be so wise not to try and assuage your worries.
Have a good day, too.

Been away for a few days, surprised to see so many comments!
As mentioned by derton2000 and yderlig (thank you), here is the recap of this month's Trove.
2 games have been added:
5 games have been removed:
I will probably update the chart soon to make it clearer, with dates and a separate removed list.
Thanks for your work.
Dammit! I procrastinated on downloading Torchlight for too long :(
I realize this is an old comment but in case you didn't consider it I'm pretty sure you can find the download elsewhere still
Oh, yes I did! Success.
Great. I have the game on GOG but I tend to forget and get confused every time I see a link without the usual accompanying green checkmark.
NEW CHART IS HERE! Enjoy and please correct me if anything looks wrong.
Thanks! Chart updated! Surprised to see Etherborn while it's on the Choice bundle.
Is that a first? I think it may be.
I'm a little angry, because I chose Etherborn as a choice. :/
Agreed. To get this in the trove a week after all my choices are used...
+1. Atleast we got a Steam key, but still a shit move on their part as i wanted to chose Niffelheim but left it for Etherborn
I wrote a mail to the support. Maybe they consider giving another choice for those who chose Etherborn. And I think everybody with that "issue" should writ ethem a mail.
Yeah, i'll try contacting them. i wonder if there was an agreement with the developers that the least picked choice will get added to the Trove or something. Still pretty shady though, don't think i am going to pick my choices before trove comes out again
sadly the trove for an 'unpaused automatically but not paid' monthly does not work anymore.
Did it work like that? Having an active autocharge date in 2 weeks is not having an active subsciption, this is how it intended to work.
sure, it was just a bug in their system.
They are a weird bunch
Sorry if this information is redundant. I'm too lazy to read through everything.

i´m not a friend of this monthly packets - maybe in future there is no other way to get games ?
Not sure what you are trying to say but in case you are worried that someday you won't be able to purchase single games I have to say that it seems very highly unlikely. What would be the incentive?
Any way to quickly spot the games with online multiplayer? Alternatively: Any suggestions? Something nice to do with friends during these times...
Torchlight 2 is worth it with friends but it was removed a month ago. In case you already have it give it a try.
many of the trove games are no longer in there as of this writing, notable the bard's tale collection (1-3)
3 games have indeed been removed since last update, including The Bard's Tale (2005 version, not the original collection). I'll update the chart next Friday along with the new games.
Oh, it wasn't the trilogy?? 😮
Thank you for the information, as it makes this month's choice a lot more interesting.
To be totally clear, the DRM-version in the trove was this game?
And am I correct in saying that appid41900's version of the original 3 games is not the remastered version of the trilogy which appears in the steam store here??
Is the remastered game in appid 41900 included in appid 843260?
41900 is its own game. It shares the "The Bard's Tale" name, but is an action game and unrelated to the trilogy. It includes the original games I-III via emulation. There's not really anything "Remastered" in this version since it's a different game.
843260 is a proper remaster of I-III - graphics, audio and QoL improvements.
The Humble choice copy includes 843260 and 1091980, but doesn't include 566090 (the original non-Director's Cut Bard's Tale IV).
Thank you for the information--I really appreciate it!!
You probably already know, but for those wondering (removed):
April games are here to help you get through isolation.
3 games have been removed:
Take care everyone!
I don't see any information regarding Divinoids being in Humble Originals program
First second: https://youtu.be/iqpQMXyylhU
Oh, nice, thanks. Guess they forgot to place a mark in the Trove, all other Originals have it.
Thanks for sharing. Just curious about when they remove games. Is it the first day of each month?
More games are added on the 2nd Friday of each month. I guess if they remove any, they do it then.
Great. Thanks for the info~
Bump for Bomber Crew and Rainy Season
Thank you! Chart updated!
Wow I just realize I have access to Trove after subscribing. I can now removed 5 games from my steam wishlist!
