Google Chrome not allowing any non-Chrome Store addons to work

I'm sick of Chrome telling me what to do. They've forcibly disabled the SG+ addon because it's not from the Chrome store, and I can't even enable it anymore because of this. Anyone have any advice? Can we have Steam Gifts Plus (or one of the Alternatives etc) become an official Chrome Store addon?

Is this really just a scheme for them to get more business?

Install Chrome Canary, the developer version. It's less stable but much more flexible than the usual Chrome.

Why switch browsers just for one extension? Seems needless when the link I posted fixes the issue just fine. I have no problem with Google doing this. They are looking out for a majority of their user base that, in all honesty, are not the smartest when it comes to their browsers or computers in general. The rest of us find a way around it, like usual.

Thx but I couldn't imagine using SteamGifts with Firefox.
