I was logging in a somewhat suspicious site, as one often does when you're a SG user, which used the "log in through steam" thingie, as this site for example does so I thought "safe enough" but apparently it was used to steal (phish) my Steam account from me, now I don't have access to it, steam won't recognize my email or phone number anymore for the automatic recovery process so I've panicked and don't know what to do next. I'm trying to directly contact Steam support but can't even find how. Help pleeease.

UPDATE: Steam Support has done a good work after I provided all the info they needed and I got my account back a couple of hours ago.

Noticed that you had a lot of games played in the past day. I assume it was the person that had taken control of your profile to try and get as many trading cards to sell as possible. How many were they able to sell? Did you lose any other Inventory items?

At least Valve was able to get your profile back to you! A shame that nothing will happen to the one that had taken control of it for a while.

And how easy would it be for Steam to correlate accounts via IP addresses and find which accounts were associate with the last IP that account was on... the only issue is even in doing that they can't justify "doing anything" legally. :c

You can't use the market or trade for a week (correction: steam says) 5 days after changing your password.

That's good, at least. They weren't able to make him lose anything!

You know, as much as I like to complain about all the hoops Valve makes us jump through, it's cases like yours that make me feel a lot better about them.

I'm glad to hear your account was safely recovered. :)

No, that was me later, farming some cards. I deactivated automatic payments to valve on Paypal and then locked the Steam account as soon as I figured out how to, so I don't think they had much time to do any of that.

I don't think that's actually a thing. :P

Gratz on getting your account back. Be careful of clicking strange links or inputting login data on an unconfirmed site in the future, yea? :)
To reduce risk, it helps to load the main site directly, where possible. For example, if a site is asking for a paypal or steam login, load those sites up directly and login there (since the login data for those sites carries over to any site requesting it).

Dude! That literally happened to me a few weeks ago. I was so scared but steam support was very helpful and I managed to recover my account within 3 hours. I guess steam support deals with this often because they were very quick and helpful. Glad everything worked out :)
