Nintendo really needs to bring those guys back. They were awesome. It's a crime they never even got a second game. (it was a thing for awhile overseas, but they basically remade the entire first game specifically for American audiences)

I disagree with osu, it has a huge communty but that isn't a rhythm game if it cannot be played on a DDRpad.

Can you play something like Audiosurf on a DDR pad? Or would that one not count as a rhythm game?
What about those games where you have to play the drums?

If rhythm is a part of the core gameplay, then it's a rhythm game. Besides VR headset, compatibility of peripherals don't really change the genre of a video game.

There is this game called Rhythm Heaven Fever, it's only available on Nintendo system but the songs are very good too

90% of the rhythm game community would dissaprove

you probably dont know about games like Sound voltex, Wacca, Maimai, jubeat, groove coaster, pop'n music and way more

any arcade rhythm game or other pc games are way better than osu

9$ the base game, and if you play some games you get track + skin as an extra idk what kinda of games.
I only remember guilty gear and nexon games

But you get your moneys worth, music royalties arent cheap, yet the game plus all dlc gives you more than 500 songs, thats a steal for that price.

Buyers beware: the is first game I had to ever refund on Steam, first for the horrible UI similar to random Java/VB application but then I discovered the whole game is always online and "as a service" meaning when a new DJMAX game will launch and they shut down the servers you'll lose all the song you purchased... Also watch a couple youtube video of the gameplay and the songs (lack of) variety.

Little heads up. This game features a battlepass on top of really expensive dlc.

Still £6.50 with -80% and with all DLC it is £82, and battle pass in game? Think this is a big skip.

I have never played it, so, I can't comment on it being the best. Of the ones I've played, Rhythm Heaven was my favorite.

Also, I agree on osu not being a rhythm game, is just hand-eye coordination, most beatmaps don't even follow a rhythm at all, they just put as much crap as they can on the screen, some random music on the background and compete to see who can move a mouse the fastest without blinking.

Well this is in my wishlist, and it is an historical lowest, and I do have enough funds in my wallet, but looking at the requirements and seeing that it asks for 100 GB of space... that's a lot, that's enough to make me doubt if I'll ever install it.
I'll probably end up buying it tho, even if I'm kinda awful at traditional rhythm games. That whole DLC situation is absurd however, I'm not touching those.

you can buy them individualy they are discounted as well for 1.68$

I was talking about the fact that the DLC list has 40 items, that sure is a way to discourage me from considering buying them. Kinda like when I'm thinking about maybe getting the soundtrack for a game just to find out that it's split in like 3 volumes, or that it only includes like a fifth of the tracks in the game, that sorta situation.

For what it is, DJMax is a pretty fun rhythm game and the whole aesthetics/keynote reacting to the sounds are pretty cool and great quality. If you're even remotely curious about it I'd say the $10 sale is decent enough to give it a go.
Unfortunately no custom songs that a lot of rhythm games and communities benefit from and it's become a huge DLC money printing machine, especially since they joined the battlepass trend. The base game has 100+ songs for $10, but the first V Extension pack is half that on sale and only includes 20 songs, so take that FWIW.
Wouldn't mind seeing a humble bundle for the DLCs though, people can dream

For sure, heck I played a lot of free ones like Stepmania growing up. I just thought it was worth mentioning because there are some paid games I bought like Beat Saber, Synth Riders and A Dance of Fire & Ice that have good custom song support. I enjoyed DJMAX too.

Never heard of Quaver, I'll have to check it out :)

Look up "Project Outfox" on Steam. It's not fully released yet but it's got dance modes like Stepmania had in it. You could get access to the playtest though if you're interested.

Dont listen to these haters, I have been playing DjMax for a long time and it is indeed the best, no game has a presentation as good as this, the only thing I dislike in Respect V is the drm but I guess theres nothing to do about it.

Don't try to shut them up becuase they don't like the game.
Some of the bring good points like the fact the game is service and required to be runned online only.
