Hey, I wanted to see my Wishlist giveaways but I can't see any. So I wanted to go and sync, but it says I have to make my profile public. My whole steam is public since I created it. Never changed it and I had no problems with it since today and I did nothing. Checked the privacy settings and everything is set on public. You can check it by yourself. Any clue where the problem might be?

It's a bug. Sometimes Steamgifts fails to sync your profile correctly. Wait a day and try again.

Its mostly likely to be from steam's end. Happens from time to time over the last year or so. Wait a few hours and try to resync should hopefully work then.

Steam was down for quite a while today, and might still be having syncing issues. This was posted earlier today as well:

I'm having sync issues for the last four days. Everything on my profile is public except for my gift inventory and always has been. I've tried syncing on several computers, at home and at work, at different times of the day, with a restarted Steam and SG, nothing seems to work. SG doesn't synch, telling me to set my profile to public. It's starting to get annoying. Does anybody know a fix, please?

Leider ist mir kein Hilfsmittel bekannt. Letztes Jahr hatte ich etwa einen Monat lang dieses Problem. Regelmäßiges Versuchen der Synchronisation half so ca. 1 von 10 mal, aber immerhin funktionierte das wöchentliche Synchronisieren durch sg... daher kein Regelstress.

Seitdem bin ich diesem Problem nicht mehr begegnget klopf auf Holz.... trotzdem noch einen schönen (Rest-)abend! :-)

Hah, ist es zu glauben? Nach deinem Hinweis, dass es manchmal trotzdem funktioniert, hab ichs nochmal versucht und *zack*, Profil synchronisiert. Ist das zu glauben?
Manchmal muss man scheinbar einfach nur fragen...

Its most likely to be steam updating/patching something which messes it up. Keep trying and hopefully you can somehow get a sync. I don't know of a fix.

Some people saying clearing your browser cache of steam and sg items, then resetting the settings on steam to friends only for a minute and then reverting back to public before resyncing works. Best of luck!

Edit: Looks like Mayanaise got there a few seconds before me.

Set your profile to private. Try logging out of SG on the same computer you're attempting to sync on. Try logging out of Steam on the browser you're using. Try logging back into Steam and SG again, and then after attempting sync, try setting your steam profile back to public (try fully public temporarily), then attempt to sync once again. Make sure you have no extensions enabled. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

These are some helpful suggestions, thank you very much, Mayanaise.
After reading Igel's reply up there where she mentions 1 out of 10 of her attempts were successfull I went ahead and tried again and *poof*, profile synced all of a sudden.
Grateful for your advice tho and will try all of that next time it happens, unevitably.

I had the same problem today, I just changed my settings in Steam to private and then again to public, tried to sync a last time and it worked.
