Can I get music/song recommendations from 1950's to 80's? I don't care the genre of the music (even if I haven't heard of it), because I love listening to new things. Who knows maybe it'll be something I really love, right? Please let me know in the comments. Thanks

Nina Simone is a criminally underappreciated singer, but she is finally getting her due these days.

Holy sh*t, someone on this website has not only heard of but has good enough taste to recommend them? Welcome to my whitelist.

It's so sad that most of the members have passed away, though at least John Cale is still producing albums at 75:)

Try something from '70s Japan:
Taeko Ohnuki - 4:00 AM

And then something remade anew:
Maroon 5 - Maps ft. Morgan James

No one should listen to M5 unless it's to hear what generic soulless music sounds like:(

That's a very long and diverse period you're after. I'll just throw some prog out there

Genesis - Dancing With the Moonlit Knight (classic 70s prog)

Marillion - Blind Curve (80s neo-prog)

Queen - The March of the Black Queen
I'm sure you know Queen but this song is often overlooked, and is one of their best

I wanted to give the same advice.

Postmodern Jukebox is great!

PS. Scott Bradlee also arranged some of the music for Bioshock Infinite, so a must-listen for gamers ;)

Let's mix in some early electronic classics:
George Clinton - Atomic Dog, an often-overlooked musician, until you go digging where later artists got their samples from.

Herbie Hancock - Rockit

And because every thread like this deserves a troll entry:
Eduard Khil - I am very glad, as I'm finally returning back home

Love the Mac, and especially Stevie Nicks (so sexy) Silver Springs during the "The Dance" tour, really kick my own ass for not seeing that one :( And wow the way she's singing at Linsey by the end of the song. Threw in Landslide from the Dance too... cause you know... Nicks/Buckingham :)
